I had had a bright(ish) blue car from 2004-8 and was a little reluctant to go there again with the M3. I tried hard to like Silverstone and Melbourne. Really hard. Just couldn't get there because of the odd tones they took on in different lighting. I get that that's what BMW was going for with these colors - uniqueness. But the variations in Melbourne, Silverstone and Interlagos just lost me. I feel like the car in either shade of white looks too hippy - as in overweight. Either of the blacks? I have another black car - and I'm not making that mistake again. And my '08 was Space Gray. Process of elimination leaves Le Mans Blue. I would have preferred to have been really drawn in by Le Mans Blue, but have to tell you that once I saw the color, combined with the Bamboo leather and the Sycamore Anthracite trim, which has a subtle tan fleck which picks up the seat color, I question why I made myself suffer over this choice in the first place. I got LOTS of compliments on it from people who saw it on the street in italy (as in the pic below - me looking smug with my arms folded), and people who saw my ED trip pix. Can't wait to get it back.

Thanks for the insight, boothguy. Looking through this thread has drawn me away from Space Gray and toward a color that's a little less... boring? I agree that Le Mans Blue looks gorgeous in these pics. You've also mentioned twice in this thread how the combo of Bamboo/Sycamore Anthracite go well together. Any chance we could see some interior pics?

Edit: Just saw some at the top of the dedicated Bamboo thread... Looks very nice, I agree, but since this will be a pre-mid-life crisis car for me, I think I'm gonna stick to Fox Red/Black with Carbon Leather.

Hey boothguy, be sure to post some pics when your car is back. Especially if you're able to capture how the anthracite picks up some of the color of the the bamboo. I can't really see it with the pictures I've seen...

Carbon leather is excellent.. I've received many compliments already. Good choice.

Not my best pictures as taken with my iPhone shortly after the rain stopped and turned to snow However, as the sun showed her friendly face I quickly took those pictures with my iPhone 4 (the iPhone camera now seams to overtake my $1000- Plus digital camera so it's all good). Once a finer day presents it's self I'll take some more photos of my newly acquired fully loaded 2012. Specification details can be found in my garage. Manufactured in September 2011, delivery taken November, 28, 2011. Milage at delivery 23 KM (14 Miles). Milage at the time photos were taken 231 KM (143 Miles). This is my 7th BMW (previous grey, e28 528i 1985, dark silver e28 535is 1987 [still have this car see my garage], silver e46 M3 2002 sold privately, alpine white e85 Z4is 2008 traded, orion silver e89 Z4 35i traded and alpine white e92 M3 2011 traded for my 2012). I got inspired by seeing this wonderful Le Mans Blue Metallic in this forum and it helped me decide on a change and I love it

Stefan,

Your car looks stunning as is man. My fav combo is the E92 LMB with gun metal 18' wheels. It looks ready to pounce man. Next and only mod would be the 35% window tint and then you're good to go.

I agree about LeMans and those 18" inch gunmetal wheels. There's just something about that color combo... I saw it in person once and went

Yes ... also agree that LMB looks good with gunmetal rims. Gives the car the right amount of aggressive look ... that it's ready for business.
