Is this normal? Oil on exhaust tips

Only mods are rpi scoops and an akra slip on. after driving a bit spiritedly I noticed oil on each of my exhaust tips. after cleaning up the tips a bit I noticed that it was a good amount of straight oil and not just carbon buildup. No CEL and the car is behaving normally. Does this happen for anyone else? Is it a reason to go to the dealer? Thanks (sorry for the large pics)

that looks like water on a dirty tip to me. Its also on the sides.. oil wouldnt just find its way up the side of the tip like that.

If that is oil then you have a big problem. Do you know how much oil you are consuming currently? It could be an issue with a piston ring (worst case). It may be a bad exhaust valve seal. I would get the car checked out as soon as possible.

I don't think oil would ever make it through the cats unless the engine was dumping it like crazy lol. Probably just water.

As others have said, you sure it's not condensation? Soot is totally normal but oil is not, but check that it really is oil.

OP - There is definitely something wrong with your exhaust. Pack it up and send it to me for testing, I'll let you know the results in a few months.

+1 I would clean the exhaust really well... then try to absorb some of the liquid on a rag and see if it is in fact oil or water. i think the latter

i highly doubt it was water but I could be wrong. I cleaned it off with my fingers and definitely felt and looked like oil. I'm burning through about a quart every 4-5k. It hasn't happened again since that day and I cleaned up the tips to see what comes back

If it was oil it would never fully dry. I say soot + condensation.

For an engine to push sufficient oil through the exhaust valves, down the headers, through the cat and silencers to arrive at the tips you would be using a qrt every 10 miles - but way before that you would be getting a dash full of warning lights about emission failures and clouds of blue smoke when the engine was running.

Absolutely. 1 qt every 4-5k would never do this.
