Thanks for the post. You are most definitely one of the best members of the forum. I'm thinking if I hate the tinny sound of the Vanguard I bought, I'll be buying the Dinan.

3. I believe that Challenge provides one of, if not the best x-pipe offering on the market today.

The Challenge Sport pipe which I have deletes the primary cats but has HFC in the secondary position and resonators.

They also have a Race version that is comparable to Dinan without any cats. It is even less than $2000 if you are interested. Finally, if you want to keep your primary cats, they have an x-pipe only option that you put in behind your primary cats BUT you have to cut your OEM system up.

I can take pics. What are you interested in seeing specifically?
Thanks for the response. I've actually been following the Challenge offerings pretty closely so I know about their options. I have to correct you though, I think the Dinan is $2700!! which is insane for a catless x-pipe. I just can't figure why they are so proud of it. Challenge is certainly a good solution but I guess I was looking for some data that may explain why Dinan is so much more $$. It's pretty common for the rear section to be the more expensive component and dinan's is the reverse???
I guess I'm just skeptical that Dinan is simply ripping people off but it's possible. Is there any special engineering in a catless x-pipe that makes one better than another?

Anyway, I understand why you went challenge and it's a great choice. I will likely go the same route. Would love to see full underside photo's if you have them and a straight on rear shot.

Thanks bro!

There's nothing special or fancy about Dinan. They're an exclusive aftermarket dealer in bed with BMW. There's the reason for the price premium!!! Some folks think it's worth it...others laugh at it.

It's not because of some special engineering they've got going on.

Great video, Ashley. The ending was the best. The S65 V8 sings a beautiful tune.

I'm already excited for Pt II.

just subscribed to your youtube channel and noticed you have a video of the gintani sport. did you have the Challenge pipes on then? and how would you compare the two exhausts? (loudness, tone, etc)

thanks in advance

No. The Gintani was by itself. The Dinan w/ the Challenge pipe is louder than the Gintani Sport was but it does not drone and boom with resonance like the Gintani did.

Good video...I like the Dinan exhaust and I am leaning towards it. Still not sure about the non-functional set of tips but it seems that it may have some merit in reducing/eliminating drone.

Agree with all of them dude, truly awesome post AMPowerJ. Thanks a lot for sharing it. When we live with such royal life we need to restrict our self for some unusual usage like this.
