$1300 is good. better than the 3700 rumor.!!!
AFAIK, every automaker just passes it on at their cost. Not an area it makes sense to discount, and they'd have a hard time justifying charging more.

As far as $3,700, that was just posted by one very uninformed noob. He obviously didn't follow along here.

It wasn't from the EPA, or I might have put more stock in it. It was from a private consultant working for the DOE. As with many things in government, one hand....

my dealer told me they subsidize some cars and lower the GGT. thats why you dont see every car inthe line up charged per the above chart.

passed by BMWNA today and they had a AW/FR coupe and the sticker was sitting on the front seat, gas guzzler is definitely $1,300 and city gets 14mpg and highway 20mpg, I snapped a pic I'll post it up when I get home tonight...

I took the M3 for a test drive 2 days ago ...the sticker said 1400 guzzler tax not 1300...can the dealer play with that?
I think BMW should have done something about the tax especially that GM managed to escape the tax on their Z06 which has bigger engine 7.0L 505 hp by introducing the skip shifting (from 1st to 4th)

This was on the "Monrony sticker"? That's the big preprinted one that lists all sthe standard and optional features, costs and EPA estimate? The manufacturer prints that, so no, the dealer can't mess with it. Mine and every other one I've seen says $1,300.00.

Thanks god we don't have skip shift. Direct injection would have been the best solution, but guess it wasn't ready for prime time on this engine.

''Thanks god we don't have skip shift"

Actually, for $20 you can an a little device to tranny electrical plug and defeat the skip shift feature --so it is not a problem at all.

BMW could have saved us $1.3k w/ a little GM help.
