Advice sought on detailing
I have an 08 coupe jet black, and the paint is looking kind of swirly and dull. There are a couple of light scratches on the powerdome. Also one wheel has some kerb rash. Was thinking of getting it tidied up. I live in the UK.
I have found two local detailers who can do a clean, clay, machine polish. One charges £150, the other £350. I have no idea why one is so much more expensive. My local dealership says the wheel rash must be renovated, not just detailed, as the wheel will corrode otherwise. They want £150 to renovate the wheel, an have offered a \\\"body mop\\\" of the car for £100 - which seems to entail a clean and machine polish just as per the detailers. Any advice on where I should spend my money? Thx |

If you have the 19" machined polished OEM rims, your dealer is correct, they need to go away a be done correctly. Not sure £150 isn't a bit steep though. I had my car mopped once and it got 90% of the swirl marks out, but it's by no means a real detail job.£350 sounds about right for a full detail though.

I have used a very good and well known guy for my Jerez Black.
Did outstanding job and also git rid of sone of the horrible orange peel you have on BMW paint these days. Check out Gurcharn Sahota Elite Detailing. He still has all the high def picture of mine. I would not trust anybody else to be honest. It's that simple. All the other "detailers" I have come across are just amateurs next to him. Get in touch via pm and I can give you more info. R |

Do these detailer guys get rid of scratches and stone chips as well as doing a nice polishing job? I usually take mine to a local paint shop and simply have the offending panel resprayed. Bit of a sledge hammer approach so I wonder what other people do.
