... initial thoughts continued

Only have another 40 miles on it from my OP, but a few observations.

- Low & midrange power is very adequate over 2,500 rpm, even with the 5,500 limit
- LOVE the engine sound. It has a very mechanical "whine" at low speeds, and I forgot how good a V8 can sound (last one was '69 Camaro 350 in college). Exhaust is pretty subdued; I'd like maybe 15-20% more volume.
- The car feels so tight and put together. Every action seems effortless. No feeling of too much weight on the street.
- Came with wheel locks; not sure if OEM or dealer put them on.
- Recess in the cover over the battery looks like it was designed for the manual to reside in, but it's about 1/2" too short!
- Trunk is definitley larger than the E46.
- Steering feels great. Haven't played with the different modes too much. Steering wheel feels just like my E46 M3 (perfect).
- Shifter and clutch are very light and easy to use.
- EDC modes are distinguishable, but not dramatically different from one another. Even "Comfort" has plenty of control. I think that will be my DD setting, with "Sport" only a push of the M button away.
- Still gettting used to Comfort Access, but should be nice on a daily basis.
- iPhone pairing went fine. Haven't tried voice commands yet.
- Variable redline during warmup is much better than the E46 one. Moves gradually and seems related more to oil temp than water temp like the E46.

Of course a louder exhaust will increase the noise level. I think part of it is this car is just so smooth compared to my E46 on coilovers that that adds to the impression of calm.

The H3s are for the cornering lights, which only come on under moving and turning conditions. I'll try to get a photo when I can enlist an assistant to drive.

Yes, I mentioned in my OP it is very good with CD material, and also HD radio. It is good enough that you can tell the inferior quality of standard iPod material. Not Hip Hop thumping bass, but very tight throughout the range and plays louder than you can stand.

Think you addressed someone else's question. I asked if you planned on changing your exhaust.

Good point on the H3's; time to call in the stunt driving crew!

if you turn the wheel to lock on either side this will illuminate the cornering lights. obviously don't turn from a standstill, but if you drive in a circle it should get them to turn on and then you can just get out of the car at some point to snap the pic as long as the wheel is still turned over.
