bluetooth broke?

Hey Guys - I've been using my iDrive and bluetooth since I got the car a year ago (2008). Then about a month ago it stopped auto-syncing w/my device (iPhone). I even tried pairing it to my bberry and no luck with that either.

I went into the bluetooth settings in idrive and tried to turn bluetooth off and then back on again to see if it just needed a restart....no luck. Sometimes I go to the setting to "uncheck" the Bluetooth button to turn it off and the system won't respond to the command....almost like it's frozen. But I am able to back out of it and go to other idrive functions and they work just fine.

Anyone know what's up with my bluetooth system? I haven't changed devices...same old iPhone and Blackberry that used to pair just fine...now suddenly can't get either of them to pair with idrive bluetooth.

It's under warranty, so that's probably my next move...but thought there might be an easy fix (unhook car battery for a full reboot?)

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Try disconnecting the battery, pressing the brake pedal to drain any residual charge in the ECU, and then reconnect the battery. If that doesn't work then it needs to be looked at.

Just an update here...I disconnected the car's battery, let it sit for about 20 minutes. Re-connected the battery and started the car. The bluetooth now works again and has for the past week or so...no problems.

I think I'll try the battery disconnection thing.
