Calabogie Track Day July 14-15
We're looking at putting together a track day at Calabogie on July 14-15, as noted in the Track Days thread, and will coincide with the drive Mike_M3 is putting together. Mike_M3 has put together a lodging package in the other Calabogie thread.
Gearhead999s was originally coordinating this date, but he currently has other work commitments that preclude his involvement. I'll be coordinating the event unless his status changes. I would like to get a solid feel for the number of people who will be coming up for the track day(s). Right now, our deal is based on the number of people coming up. I would like to submit our registration and fees to CMP by July 5th. It is possible to sign up for one day or both. The run groups are only for Intermediate or Advanced drivers. If you've never done a track day before, this is not the place to start. Orientation sessions are mandatory for any intermediate or advanced drivers who have never lapped at Calabogie before and is an additional $50 + HST to the costs below. 5-9: $350 + HST per day 10+: $300 + HST per day For those who are looking to attend, please post in this thread which day(s) you would like to attend, and which group you want to run in. I will then PM you with payment instructions. **The CMP website has some driver's guides and preparation notes which everyone should read. The driver's guides are not intended to replace the orientation sessions, but do provide good insight on what line(s) to take. http://www.calabogiemotorsports.com/...rivers-prep-2/ Last edited by sawzall; 06-29-2012 at 09:17 AM.. |

Thanks for putting me on the list. Can you put me as advanced? I remember being stuck in traffic much of the time last time when we were in intermediate, and I was pretty comfortable in instructor group last two times on Mosport GP. I will downgrade if the track does not agree with me.

One more thing - I will be driving on the track on 14th and 15th. Sorry I missed that part initially. I booked an appointment at RMP and they think they can get it done in time, so I'm optimistic!

Awesome! I'm planning both days too. I didn't know if you wanted two days and I didn't want to impose.

Here is an excerpt from the CMP site on what to do in preparation of their track days: =============== Arrive no later than 7:45 as you will need time to register and get your car’s annual sound check The mandatory drivers meeting is at 8:30 am Ensure that your car is road worthy with at least 50% of your brake pad material present. Tires must have a minimum of 3/32nd inch of tread depth across the entire tread. Slicks may not be allowed on the track if we experience rain during the event Fill up your gas tank prior to arrival – gas is available at Stinson’s gas bar located at Mumford’s restaurant in Calabogie village Empty your car of all loose objects when you arrive – this includes floor mats, GPS units, cell phones, coffee cups, etc Bring along your helmet (helmets are available for rent at the track) We suggest sunscreen, insect repellent, and sun glasses Long pants and closed toe shoes are mandatory – short sleeve shirts are allowed. We recommend soft-soled shoes like sneakers or driving shoes Upon arrival, (use the far gate) report to the registration area to receive your wrist band, run group coloured sticker, and further instructions In the event of mechanical difficulty, limited technical assistance is available at the Kanata Ford/Speed Merchants located at the track Lunch is included in your entry fee Water is available and a small snack bar can be found in the pit area Please respect the speed limits on the way to and from the track, especially on the roads that pass through the communities in the vicinity of Calabogie Motorsports Park. Good neighbours make our operation much easier! ================ |

If you are not driving the Track on Saturday/Sunday, you can always sightsee around.. Ottawa is only a couple of hours away, and there are plenty of nice roads to drive on around Calabogie too. If the weather is nice, you could hang out by the water as well.

FYI. The dates have been booked. All attendees have received an email on registration fees. CMP was nice enough to extend our discount to Sunday as well even though we only have 3 people tracking on Sunday.

On another note, the weekend at Calabogie was fantastic. Two days of 30C+ heat, small run groups and the full track. We had an absolute blast, and we all learned a few new things at the track. Videos of some of the laps to come soon! |

I know it's for the 991 but I don't think it makes much different in price though.. Can you still PM me the price? If it's not comfortable with you then never mind lol. |

For comparasion I am posting Scott Maxwell in a Boss 302R during testing.I have not tried his line out in Temptation as of yet but in talking to him about it,it should work OK in our cars. The other lines he uses are very simular to what most of us use.Max you could use a lot more curb in a few spots to widen the corners out.
