Absolutely - our police fire and rescue deserve all the thanks, same as our soldiers. I'd love to see more support, especially for the volunteer fire dept's. Putting yourself in harms way for another is truly one of the peak virtues.

I think this is very important in a time where the media often gives a negative view on police. Yeah, there are bad people in every business, but most are just doing their job. I did an internship with a local police department in college and I'd say 99% of them were good honest people who wanted to make a difference. It was really eye opening to work with them because you learn why they do certain things. For example, shining the flashlight into your face when you get pulled over, so it is harder for you to see them and reduces their vulnerability.

I wonder how many of those anti-police protesters needed help from police during these storms?
