Supercharged - High RPM, Low Throttle Modulation

The issue is mainly felt on the track but is also annoying on the street.

At high rpm (say above 6k) and very low throttle inputs (like trying to maintain a steady state in a fast sweeping turn) the throttle is very difficult to modulate.

In this specific instance only the throttle is very non-linear.. I will give it a little bit of throttle and the car will continue to accelerate with no additional throttle input and when I let off the car will continue to accelerate for a moment.

I think this is maybe an issue with the BOV reacting to a change in vacuum and the throttle plates being barely opening/closing.

Is this par for the course with a supercharged m3? I just did my first trackday with the blower and found myself short shifting so I would be at a lower rpm through corners.

I ride and track (group A) 600 and 1000cc sport bikes so I am used to hard to modulate throttles and am always extremely smooth with the stock m3 or the bikes but with the supercharged m3 it is not possible. Something isn't right.

Any ideas?

It would help if you put what type of supercharger kit you have.

That's not normal with an ESS 625 blower. At higher speeds modulating the throttle isn't a problem and as soon as you lift off the throttle the engine start to slow the car down...

That is not normal, as soon as I lift off throttle engine breaking kicks in.

I remember a s/c tuner mentioned that they could 'retune' the throttle sensitivity...I won't post tuner until OP mentions what system.

ESS offers different throttle input sensitivity settings. I didn't much care for the original one that came with the SC tune so I opted for their other throttle file. So if it's an ESS kit, give that other file a try.

Well stock for me the ESS senstivity is to much not to little. Very hard to "ride the throttle, its either in or out which with a car with engine breaking can be annoying.
Just have not gotten around to getting it toned down.

Haha yes, thats in normal driving mode. ESS tune basically made the throttle a hair trigger, stock and with my previous BPM tune the throttle was great especially with BPM.
ESS's is fine on back roads hwy etc, but in town when you just want to ease off the throttle but not kick in engine breaking it blows. Also miss the nice burble you get when you can just ride the throttle

Thanks for the replies.

I have an ESS 625 kit that I installed myself. I'll email Roman and see if he has a tamer throttle mapping I can try.

This is the exact issue I am describing with my ESS kit!

I can even feel it on the freeway when I am trying to just barely accelerate in 7th gear. Its near impossible to give the car say 2% throttle.. it seems like the minimum is 25% and there's nothing in-between.

Its not the kit, its the tune. Or rather one setting in the tune

This is normal and think about why. You have a belt-driven supercharger. At 6K or whatever RPM your supercharger is still boosting. So of course your car wants to "hunt" forward....meaning accelerate. Yes you need to be one gear down.

I'm in Newport and can drive your car and tell you if there is any different between yours and mine.

My office is at the corner of jamboree/Bristol and I'm in the corner of the building that faces towards MacArthur. I'll really have to keep an eye out lol.
