I think you are fine.....but
I would think the valve springs and valves would be of greater concern. How are the rod bearing hurt with over reving? BTW, if I keep my car long enough, I will change my rod bearing... First track event this weekend with my E46 M3 .... WITH NEW ROD BEARING

Did your rear wheels lock up?
Buy a cheap scope camera and take this opportunity to change your plugs. Inspect your pistons, make sure there was no valve contact, if that checks out, you're probably good to go. Although, now would be a good time to consider a new color of M3 XD It sounds like you got lucky though man. A trick to prevent this from the old E36 days. When going into 4th and 6th gear, grab the shift knob backhand style, so that your thumb is effectively facing down towards your transmission. When your thumb is facing up, you have a tendency to to drop it into a lower gear by accident, it happens rarely, but money shifts weren't uncommon in E36's and I've never had that issue due to how I shifted. |

When the wheels lock up, that's usually a good indication of a broken timing chain, among other things/red lights.
You should be fine though man. Just go drive the shit out of it just to be sure. |

Any lesson you pay for is a lesson you learn. I'm quite positive the OP will never money shift again.
We have all done it a some point, just earlier in our life when the cars were not as expensive! |

I am looking for arp 2000 rod bolts, and I don't think a lot of vendors have that any more, they seem to carry the 625 ones.
I ordered these, can anyone confirm that this is the right one? http://www.enjoytechnica.com/product...-rod-bearings/ Thanks

VAC and EAS carries the old style ARP2000 rod bolts. But the latest data gathered by regular guy indicated that these might not be ideal. He will be gathering data on the 625+ next week supposedly. You might want to check with the folks to see which bolts you should use. Good luck.

We can check the highest RPM your car has reached, along with the highest speed achieved and the number of times your car has reached redline. We've seen cars that have hit 9,000 RPM and are still running today.
We'll send over a PM with more information. Last edited by BPM; 03-27-2015 at 04:16 PM.. |

Using Tool32, you can check by opening the MSS60.prg file and querying the status_freezeframe_vmax option for max speed. Status_freezeframe_nmax gives you highest rpm and the mileage it was done at and the amount of times the car has been redlined.
I was worried about a recent money shift on my car, but it turns out it only went to 8600 rpm. Sure, it's still over 8400 max rpm but I feared the worst! |

I'd be surprised to learn that even this engine could withstand a full, clutch out money shift into 2nd at 3rd redline, ~100 mph. Someone else can do the rpm calcs on that, but something like 13-14k rpm? And it runs fine? Seems unlikely.
