Gintani's Twin Disc Carbon/Carbon Clutch
What's up everyone... This was posted in the Vendor section but no one ever goes there.. I don't even go. So I'm here to tell some people about it and hopefully they can jump in the group buy with me so I can save some money.
![]() Gintani has developed a carbon/carbon clutch for the six speed transmissions. Alex said it sounds like stock, engages like stock and you will not notice that you even changed it. It will just be MUCH stronger and can take ALOT of abuse. It's great for people who track their cars or have supercharged cars. I mean, the stock clutch can handle the power but to what extent.. If you track your car and your supercharged, that clutch won't last for long. If your supercharged and your going to be pushing your car, that clutch will start slipping sooner or later... I'll be tracking my car and I will have a little more power then average supercharged cars... So I need this clutch. ![]() Hopefully some of the RD sport cars with the stroker can jump in! I know you guys are going to track your car and are putting down some nice numbers! ![]() http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=329833 Hopefully some of you will jump in the group buy! Let me know if you have any questions or any way I can help. Looking to get a clutch and supercharger system? I'm sure I can talk to Gintani and set up a nice deal. ![]() Josh

If power is being absorbed by the stock clutch where is it going to go with this installed?

Didn't BMW Motorsport come out with one also? And it includes an aluminum flywheel for $4,000 with Dual Clutch setup? (I could be wrong... just thought I saw PG post something about it a couple months back).
Peace, Dave

$4300 is a lot of dough. The stock flywheel and clutch set up is under $3000 CAD.

I think a $3700 clutch is the worst example of the M tax I have seen yet. Let me know when Tilton makes a lightweight flywheel/clutch combo, and I will consider it.

Pretty much and I'm sure Gintani will discount it further for the guys that buy their supercharger kit especially the ones that build their motors also.

I would say 6-8 hours of labor at a good shop. Also, if you are local, Gintani will be setting up specials to install the clutch. I just found out tilton cost more and gives you less material. Also, Gintani will be lowering the price tonight. I got off the phone with Alex 10 minutes ago.

People with SC kits or strokers should definitely jump on this.

Is that ONLY an OEM style clutch for use with the OEM flyhweel or is that a smaller diameter ligthweight clutch with a new flywheel? I'm not saying a Tilton setup won't be expensive. They sell awesome expensive parts. That isn't an M tax because their parts are expensive no matter what car you drive. Now selling a modified OEM style clutch for $3700 that just has more material on the clutch disc sounds expensive to me. What are all the details on this Gintani clutch? It says it feels like stock which probably means they didn't modify the pressure plate for more clutch pressure.

Oh yeah PencilGeek have you done any research on the OS Giken setup on Turner Motorsports:
http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html...T_ID=BM533-BF6 That price seems mighty nice.

It honestly depends on your driving habbits, how hard your going to launch your car, how often, etc.. but It is expected to last 3-4 times as long as your stock clutch. Also, since this is a high performance clutch, it is made to take a beating... Once your done launching your car, driving hard, a simple 30 second engagement will help the lifetime of the clutch. |
