I just installed these (18 LED PY24W) on my 2007 E92 335i. They are working, but after car starts up, they give errors and cause the blinkers to blink very quickly. After 20-40 seconds the errors go away, and functionality returns normal.
This happens everytime I start up the car. Anyone else experiencing the same problem? Any solution? |

Mine look 100% identical to all the ones from the different vendors. I believe they come from the same supplier, just repackaged.
It sucks that they are giving me errors. I hate that 'ding ding ding' sound on startup! By the way, anyone selling their stock PSY24W silver for cheap? Last edited by JunkStory; 07-29-2011 at 06:39 PM.. |

I ordered mine from Ebay and I believe that's where Swhat got his. He said his don't flicker or give any error messages like yours do. I have hunch that if mine do the flicker and error message it can be remedied with the resistor packs from Umnitza that you can purchase with their lights. Since I don't have my car yet there is no way for me to prove this theory. If one of you want to try it and let us know that would be awesome.

The vendor on eBay was apologetic about sending white instead of amber. He was even willing to send out the replacements before receiving my white bulbs back.

They are, but stock is single bulb at the front end of the side turn signal (I've read it's an LED but am not sure). The 24 LED version has 24 LEDs along the entire length of the signal, much brighter than stock. They come in amber and white.

Success! After a disastrous first attempt where I thought I had bent one of the prongs inside the headlight beyond repair, I decided to try again (after bending the prong back again). Biggest tips I can give, probably been mentioned earlier but I'll reiterate:
1) Remove the wheel! Makes it much easier when you can stick your head and there and see things. 2) Once the bulb is removed, look inside to see the prongs in the housing; they are at 9 and 3 o'clock. 3) Sand the LED bulb as described earlier so they twist all the way in the base - or at least within 0.5 mm from full-twist which is what I did. 4) Orient the bulb/base so it's contacts are at 9 and 3 o'clock to line up with the prongs and slowly and firmly push into headlight until it's completely seated. 5) The most important step: check to make sure it works by switching on your hazard flashers before twisting the base to lock. If they don't work you've either missed or bent a prong. Without studying the contact mechanism before, I though you had to twist the base to make them work. 6) Once they're working, only then twist clockwise to lock and then test once more with the hazards for good measure before putting cover and wheel back.

I'm confused about the flickering... what flickers? The front turn signals when you start the car? If so, I guess I'd have to have someone else start the car while I look at the front. I've got all interior LEDs as well and those flicker a bit at startup - most noticeably the front footwell lights.

Yeah mine flicker just a bit after startup. It's a very dim flicker, barely noticeable in daylight. Don't mind it at all, looks kinda cool. All the bulbs must be the same, I would think those that say theirs don't flicker have had someone else start their car in the dark or maybe only LCI's do it or something.

Here is what I have found regarding these bulbs:
> White require no sanding. > Amber require slight sanding as swhat as instructed.

Actually I don't think either require sanding, if you get them put on in just the right position. I found this out by accident. I put the new bulb on the plastic base to see how they fit together, saw that they needed to be shaved by a little bit and went to get a file. Before I started filing, I put them on the base one more time to make sure I knew what/where I was sanding and the bulb rotated right into position. When I went to do the second bulb, it looked again like it was going to need sanding, so on a hunch I took the bulb off and rotated it 180 degrees, and put it back on the base and it slid right into place. For reference, the bulbs I was using were the Amber WeissLicht bulbs.
