WTF is wrong with people?

I've had my car for only a couple months and people keep bumping into it. Just got back to my car last night and my bumper was bumped into. Now 3 out 4 corners of my car have been bumped into.

Parking by feel. Or as happens in NYC, people use the movement of the suspension to create more room to get into spots.

Ya know, I think people just hat that THEY don't have an M. Just today, I was on my way to racquetball and some tool in a riced out chevy something-or-other with his hat cocked sideways glared at me from the next lane over. I accelerated from the red light and changed lanes six or seven car lengths ahead of him and gave me the finger. I don't know why. I signaled and everything!

Haters. Plain and simple.

That is why I don't parallel park anywhere, especially in the city.

+1

If you parallel park in NYC the car is going to be damaged and it has nothing to do with "Jealous Haters" who resent that you have a BMW. It will happen regardless of what you are driving.

NY is notorious for this. I always stay in the car when i'm in the city or I give it to my trusted parking garage. Parking in parking lots isn't much better either. Park as far away as you want they will find a way to hit your car.

as others said it has nothing to do with YOUR M3 or people being jealous...
heck, even in a 5,000-people town 20 years ago, i was waiting outside a church (doing my best not to get in), leaning gently on a car...
then i felt it moving a little bit, once... then twice... three times... and i'm thinking "wtf, i'm going nuts!!" as i looked to the side, there was this guy coming out of the parking space bumping the 2 cars on either side to get his way out... and none of them were M3's

I live in Manhattan and never park on the street (or drive in the city for that matter other than to get to and from my home). The only two places in NY that my car has ever been parked are the garage in my building and BMW Manhattan,

Your just dancing with the devil when you parallel park, avoid it all costs. Braille drivers kiss your bumpers all day long.

Always look for the big spaces or ones where people can't park in front of or behind. You could get one of those bumper buddies, but that's just asking for it...

Separately, but related, I can be minding my own business in my M, driving totally normally and respectfully, and still get the receiving end of some road rage or dirty looks. Jealousy, it's a deadly sin..

It be nice to pass his number to everyone on the Chicago Force, and every time he makes a bad move give him a ticket ... a bad move means he broke the law ... I am certain soon he drive like an old lady and keep all his 10 fingers on the steering wheel

I've wondered this myself. Does having a Bumper Buddy/protector thing encourage people to play bumper cars while parking?

Ha I bet when people see the bumper buddy they lose inhibitions about bumping you, thinking that it'll all be ok.

I'd be willing to lend you a few. What caliber/bullet weights do you need?

What do you mean they have to commit a crime? Just what do you think that the 47,000 pages of vehicle code exist for? It's to give an officer an excuse for taking down a DB like this.
