What's the actual problem with the cable? Was it just a bad design or it's breaking down over time?

Also bad design, material choices. That shit wire insulation BMW and other German brands use is so dumb, but at least rodents love it. Plus there is no good reason to ever have a safety recall not done on a road car.

Yeah looks like it's the tin connector that gets degraded over time. I'm still rocking the original 2009 battery on my car lol so hopefully it's not degraded too badly yet. But you're right it's a safety issue so I'll get it scheduled soon

This is the replacement part from what I just looked up if anyone else was curious

Finally got around to wrapping my wood trim.. I went with flat black to try and keep it clean. I think it turned out pretty good, definitely a skill that needs time and patience. The little panel took me three tries to get the outside edges and curves wrinkle free but once I got it right one time it made sense. I was able to do the big piece in one try.

I got the JL amp and Logic7 speakers installed. Great project, a lot of improvement over the hifi setup.

Nice! I have the hifi option with Bavsound speakers but factory subs. I remain very impressed how much of a difference adding a modern digital amp made to the system. Not going to win any awards or anything but reasonably good bass and sound reproduction. Took me a while fussing with the digital crossovers and sound stage but found a rare stopping point on the project. Usually the desire to modify finds no end so that is saying something.

Just bought a ‘13 E93 M3 with 29k. Pretty clean car thru and thru. My first BMW. Coming from VW owner since I started driving at 16. This will not be a daily, but looking for help and suggestions with this new journey. I’ve done some research and such but any notes would be greatly appreciated. Car will be dropped off this week. I did see the car in person and test drove it, everything ran smooth. Bought it from a Porsche dealership, it was a trade in. I would have loved to get into a E92 but as we’ve seen the prices have gone crazy high and not many out there with low miles. Either way I got the V8 that I’ve been wanting since it came out. Cheers!!

getting ready for track season.. finally installed GT4 lip + brake ducts, and spoiler + custom reinforcement plates. Gotta do something about those plates, they do exactly nothing.

oh also finally chased down my lambda faults. turns out one of the (many) POs of this car damaged the wiring harness coming down to the driver side. Looks like they had "repaired" it and either had the remaining wire chafe through or just never fixed that one.

Whatever the reason, this seems to have resolved a bunch of O2 faults for me (2741, 2743, 274B and 274F)

Interesting kolosy, where exactly is that wire bundle located?
Also have plowed through 3pr of front O2s chasing Lambda faults last ~12K mls [77K on the meter]...frustrating and pricey

big plug in front is the oil level sensor.

Wow, very good job! Problems with wires are tricky to diagnose.

wish i could take all the credit. shop did it (their track car in the background there). my contribution was confirming that it wasn't the o2 sensor itself by swapping in a new one prior to punting it to them.

Got her back from the shop after having them install solid subframe bushings, new rear sway bar links, new rear rotors, and stainless brake lines (including the middle ones), as well as oil change and brake flush with high temp fluid. Then I put her summer shoes back on and swapped the kidney grills back to the E9X ones instead of the F8X style ones. More classic look IMHO.

Car feels great and ready for spring (and hopefully an HPDE or two this season)!

I kinda liked them for a little while - felt like it modernized the look a bit - but then I was like...nah, back to "period correct" lol
