I guess it comes down to whether you want real performance or luxury car amenities. I completely agree the interior sucks but at the track or on a canyon road I could care less when it leaves 98% of anything else available (including the M3) in the dust. As a DD, I would not pick a Z06 because of the interior but who would? As a DD, the M3, C63, RS4 are better picks as they are nicer inside, easier to live with and more practical. The Z06 is a toy and as a toy, it is amazing... who cares about the interior IMO only.

Agree with gthal. The interior on this one doesn't look too bad in that picture, JMO.

Thought the same thing. If the negotiations are not over in 5 minutes, it's a no sale.

Regardless, never been a 'vette fan, but those pics make it look pretty good. I'm sure it would be a fun car to have around.

OP, i'd recommend you do this...find a mint 2009+ Z06 right around 50k(i bought my 2009 with 2700 miles fro $50k)

Dump $10k into Caravaggio interior and you'll end something similar to this...

Anyways, i picked my Z06 over an E92 M3 back in January. I test drove 7 E92 M3s and none satisfied my needs. I came over from a 300whp E46 M3 and found E92 to be fairly slow.

Here is how my car looks now and come winter time im doing interior..

I thought really hard about getting into a ZO6. In the end I didn't because I figured it is not a good car to have as an only car (and I cannot have more than a single car at this point in time).

As a second or third car? It's a must have!

I check them out at the track and the last time I was out there was an Inferno orange centennial edition and wow it is just straight up gorgeous inside and out IMHO.

The ZO6 is in a complete different league in terms of performance. Makes an M3 feel like a 325i. The LS7 is ridiculous... titanium rods, forged crank, titanium and sodium filled valves, dry sump. The engine is mounted in a magnesium cradle. The chassis is hydroformed aluminum and the fenders are made of carbon fiber. It's an engineering marvel and a no compromise sports car.

Meanwhile on BMW forums, so-called driving enthusiasts find nothing else to do but b*tch about the crappy interior. Gets me everytime.

When that's the only area (other than a back seat and better DD practicality) where the BMW is better, you kind of have to take the "crap on the Vette's interior" approach.

+1! I feel you man.

I also don't get it when guys compare the ZO6's interior to our M3's interior. I have to agree that German over American when it comes to interior build and quality BUT still, some (Take note when I said some), but not all BMW enthusiasts ALWAYS compare the ZO6 interior to the M3's interior, mentioning every single fucking time that the M3's interior is superior in every way possible. YES, WE ALREADY KNOW THAT! I kept on reading the same shit over and over about how nice the M3's interior is compared to the ZO6. It's like a stupid cycle that goes on and on. If you don't like the interior, don't buy a ZO6. OR if you like the ZO6's performance, but hate the interior then there's always caravaggio to make it look right.

*End Rant*

Anyway, as a second vehicle, I would be happy if I had a ZO6 in my garage. I don't care about it's interior when performance is top notch.

Needless to say I needed change, and I am completely happy with what the M3 is offering, plus It was good to change. The thing I miss the the Vettes are the grunt and power of the LSX motors and the raw chassis feeling..Also prefer the C5 Z over the C6 Z because it has a more raw and aggressive feeling sort of like when the E46 M3 is compared to the E92 M3. I think you made a good decision by not trading up to a C6 Z even if its the best a C6 Z06 can get with the Centennial Edition, as others have said I would opt for a P-Car if I could afford a sports car in the 90k range...

That's exactly what I was thinking. Poor salesperson. My last car deal took 40mins. to negotiate and I thought that took a long time. Geez.

Back to the Z06, its a monster. Got to respect its performance. LOL at the M3 folks bitching about the interior. Its the same defense every time "crappy" cars like the GT-R, GT500, ZL1...etc are being compared to the M3. It's getting old folks. I know! ...let's bitch about the crappy stereo that these cars have compare to our awesome Premium sound system =)

For a weekend/track car (if you can ignore the crappy interior), it is a very hard car to beat from a performance and feel perspective. If I had a weekend toy (excluding the E36 M3) then a Z06 would be a prime candidate.
Do I get to go home with the trophy girl after the street or track race? If so ZO6 it is!!

Been is the same boat. Had three C6 Vettes (including an '07 Z06). Great cars that never gave me an ounce of trouble but I got tired of them after a short while. Most recent C6 was an '11 Grand Sport that I sold after 4 months and bought an E92 M3 and never once regretted the move. I recently (2 months ago) found a fantastic deal on a 997 Turbo which I think will keep me happy for quite a while as it provides Z06 (or better) type power while maintaining that European build quality and intangibles that most American car companies cannot provide. Just installed a Softronic tune and the car is making 575 crank hp on 93 octane and stock exhaust.

You can pick up '07 and '08 Turbos and GT3's for somewhere in the $70's these days.

The Z06 is a tremendous upgrade over the M3 in every performance area. Quite a bargain too so yeah-if i spent 4hrs negotiating...I would've got the ZO6 sure. The Z06 will eat the M3 for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

With the magnetic ride suspension...the ZO6 is comfortable on the roads as well.
