Yeah, I called up BMW European Sales and they told me the same thing the dealer did, that my car hasn't yet reached the VPC. Oh well. Probably next weekend...

Vehicle Preparation Center. I.E., it has cleared customs (which is the biggest variable since it can take 2 days or 2 months). VPC should only take 2-3 days assuming no major damage. I guess I'll be flying down to pick up my car on Friday!

I hope Smurf is right on the quick turnaround times.

When I did some reading online about the VPC from those who have taken tours of them, it sounded like they are extremely picky about the quality of the cars they release. This is good from a quality control point of view, but may delay ED cars as it may be necessary to do paint work for chips, scratches, etc. that took place when we "borrowed" our cars in Europe.

Dare I admit that I'm so anxious to get my car I might be inclined to live with a small scratch or chip and consider it as a well deserved battle wound from testing out the ECU's speed governor while on the Autobahn?

I don't think they care about minor rock chips... but who knows. That means they'd have to repaint most of the cars they get that were actually driven (i.e. not the people who picked it up and drove it directly to the dropoff).

But anyway, I clear bra'd my car in the hotel parking lot so I don't have that issue.

how long was the average wait time from order to delivery? 2.5-3 months?
doesn't it depend largely on VPC?

I placed my order about 3 weeks ago and am expecting early december, or so i've been told by my sales guy

My car is a European Delivery. I dropped it off at E.H. Harms on August 26th.

What dealer did you use?

West Coast people typically look at about 8-10 weeks.

Boys...she's on the premises! Drove her around last night with my two sons. I had the 7 year old start her up for the drive out of the dealership. They had their BMW shirts on and BMW key chains in hand. The smiles couldn't have been bigger...except for mine.

Hope you all get yours soon!

Now where's mine!??!?!??!?!?!???!??!?!??!?!?

Mine's coming through South Bay BMW and it's still at the VPC according to the website. I have a Southwest flight scheduled to go to LA tomorrow which I think I might have to change...

I feel the same way. Mine shows still at the VPC as well. I'm also in Pleasanton and waiting to get the call from East Bay.
