I guess I left out that minor detail. NASA is at PIR.
I will do this event in the street car barring a miracle. While the race car (S62 engine swap) might be close I don't think we can wire the back half of the car, run ABS and brake lines, finish the headers/exhaust and schedule a time on the dyno for tuning before Saturday.

Yeah not likely. I'm getting a couple days in the following week if weather is fine.

This looks like the same event I went to last year. You can see my thread from back then.

It was tons of fun as I'm not a normal track guy. It was fun to drive the 6 and 7 series cars sort of hard. The track laps are follow the leader, not open track driving.

However, unless it's different than last year, they will not let you take any of the M cars on the track. They had a few M6s last year, but you could only drive them for the "autocross" event in the Parking Lot.

When asked why, they said "They have too much power, so our insurance doesn't cover them on the track.". Not sure that's true or if they just don't want people beating on the M cars. Either way for the event last year is was "No M cars on the track".

All in all, still a fun day and worth your time if you want to see/drive other cars.

Um. Well my whole reason was to drive the M3/4 and M235 on track. I was curious to see how the new cars compare to my current cars. I hope they allow me to drive otherwise I will have to just enjoy the free lunch.

2017 Track Days (RMP -Ridge Motorsport Park) Interest check

Anybody planning on heading out to The Ridge Motorsport Park in the next few weeks? Curious what everyone is up to for their fix (or seat time)..Got a fairly decent camera setup so would love to get some chase footage if anyone is interested.

So far, I have been attending SCCA Tracknight in America (TNiA) events during the weekdays. Upcoming events of interest Jul27 (Thursday) and Aug10 (Thursday). Will likely sign up for intermediate group. Let me know!

Haha that's the probably true...
My car lacks serious tires and probably a good aero setup to get sub 2min lap time; driver mod aside

Do you have plans for the ridge (or pacific raceway) this year/season? last time I saw your car was at Griots garage a few years ago?

I've only been out to pacific once this year. Car has been further lightened and has front and rear aero now. Ran best of 1:52:24 at ridge.

Bump

I'm planning to start tracking this year. What do you track vets recommend for getting my feet wet? Proformance driving school or should I do CCC with BMWCCA?

Gotcha. So how does it work after I take that first HP Driving school course? Am I able to do track days at any other time Pacific Raceways is open for track?

What about The Ridge? Is there any prerequisites that I need to do there in order to use that track?

I know I can probably search for this, but I haven't been able to find anything specific to the PNW.

You have a return day at pacific I believe with an instructor for part of the day then you get a sport license and can do any day they have. At ridge I already had prior experience so that is conveyed to them and are allowed into appropriate group.

I would say that Proformance would be one of the last i would run with. It has been awhile but they did not show the ability to keep me safe from others. BMW CCA CCC or novice HPDE could be good for anyone but their normal HPDE is not for me. I would suggest Hooked on Driving. They are the entire package for a wide spectrum of abilities.

I was considering HOD too, but looks like they only do events @ the ridge. I live literally 5 min from Pacific Raceways.
