E9x vs F8x race yet?

When do we get to see a well performed 0-60/qtr mi between E92 and F80 M's?

I'd be especially curious to see a supercharged E92 vs F80.

My thought: If you have to spend an additional 15k to get F80 performance, prob no point once they're out.

also curious where the new M235 and 335 stand in the lineup.

If you spend an additional $15k on an E92 you wont get F80 performance.... you will blow the F80 out of the water.

f80 costs more than e92 did anyways...so if you mod an e92 to reach f80 price, itll be better in all aspects

people trade for the new car for more reasons than just performance. they want the new look, new interior, better performance and some want a warranty. idk why people act like just because you add a blower to your E92 it makes the F80 less appealing. to some people

personally i love the E92 body, engine and fit and finish. i would keep my e92 over getting a F80 any day. i would do a full exhuast with a blower to show those F80 guys what a car should sound and act like.

but i do see why people want the new for reasons above.

New car is nice to have. Especially new M3. But, i was somewhat disappointed, after i saw it at the new york auto show. Looked at it from outside, sat in the drivers seat, rear seat, and i have to say, i like my car even more now. I am glad i didnt sell it, just installed ESS supercharger, new OHLINS suspension, and i still have high revving engine that screams even more now with the blower and Gintani catless x-pipe.
If i see new stock m3 anywhere, especially on the track, i will blow both doors out, or wait, its called M4 now? I will blow all 4 doors of the new m3 too.

Nice to know. Listening to the new M4 sound I already am less interested in switching. With your testimony of the supercharger, I think my venture into a more powerful and beautiful beast of a car will be to supercharge my E92.

I'm more curious to see a bolt-on e9x vs. a stock f80. I think we all know what the outcome would be against a supercharged e9x

Do it and never look back. I wish i did it sooner. Was sceptical about reliability and things like that, but man, it feels like i am driving a supercar now

My question is how long before you can actually tune the F8x to get a lot more power. I think it took quite a while with the new F10 correct?

But the demand for it on that car is much lower too. Not nearly as many people mod M5's as M3's.

As far as vs goes, I could care less if the car is faster than me in a straight line. It's expected. I'll be more interested when they are consistently passing me on the track.

I guess that is a fair point. But still realistically how long do we think it will take? A year? When did the first tunes for the E9x come out? I have no clue.

Until your rod bearings go away and your piston peeks out of the block to say Hi. The S55 will be more robust than the S65 and will be capable of more power reliably than the S65. Additionally it will have a much better torque output at low revs than the S65. This doesn't even take into account the weight reduction, brake and suspension upgrades that will let the F80 outhandle the E90 in the corners. And don't forget that in addition to the money spent on modding the E90 you will also need to spend money maintaining and fixing it, unlike the F80 which will have warranty and free maintenance.

And really, I'm pretty sure a lot of people when the E90 came out in 2007/2008 said they'd rather keep their E46 and supercharge it and blow the doors off the E90.

IDK the aftermarket might suck on this engine S55. the stock turbos are not that big and they are spinning already at a somewhat high rate. We also do not know weak points of motor yet.

on top of that, we are not sure how tuning will be like on the OEM software. BMW has demonstrated they do not want there turbo engines to be messed with.

So i wouldn't say to much about what this new engine can actually do.

I dont think they have even created a real custom tune for a F10 yet. all tuners are doing is adding "piggy backs" which really only change boost i believe.

we are looking at least a year for tuning results from this car. there is a lot of development and testing that goes into this. I am pretty certain this car is also going to be the hardest car to tune yet.

Well they said the same thing about the GTR, that Nissan made the ECU uncrackable. But tuners were able to crack it eventually and get more power out of it. The S55 is already realistically putting out close to 450 hp stock. I believe it's likely with some tuning and bolt ons you can push that to mid to high 500's, which is about as high as you can reliably get out of a supercharged S65 anyway. And even then the S55 will still own the S65 in terms of low end torque. And with less weight to move around, the S55 doesn't even need to match the power output of the S65 to achieve the same acceleration.

You need to add the word 'if' at the front of that sentence. There is no guarantee of that. It may be likely but it is not at all proven.

Also wasn't the weight savings mostly a marketing gimmick last I read?

Yes, being 8mo new, I'm worried about warranty and reliability. Hate for them to say, sorry it will cost $300 for an oil change cause you modified it. Damn!

Which one do you have?

You cant compare the difference between e46m3 vs e9xm3 and e9xm3 vs F80 m3. I owned e46m3 and now e92m3, and have tracked them both.
Huge difference between those two in performance department.
By looking at F80, it has about the same power output as E90, more torque at low rpm, which is nice for daily driving but not at all at the track.
BTW, when F80 comes out and ppl actually put it on the scale, dont be surprized to see almost the same numbers as E90, equally equipped.

My car is 2009 w/dct. I took it to the dealer only once, for the first service.
I like to do all the maintanance myself, even when i could do it for free at BMW.
The main reason is, i know that it will be done the way it should be.
No second guessing.
You can wait for 4 years or 50000 miles, and then supercharge it.
But as i said before, the only reason i waited for 5 years, because i was sceptical, did a lot of reading, talking to a few owners with supercharged m3s, before i pulled the trigger.
Of course there is a risk of something goes wrong and they may deny the warranty, but you have to pay to play.
Ican guarantee you one thing, you will forget about warranty and everything else, once you get your hands on a supercharged M3

If you look at the dyno graphs, the F80 makes more power at every RPM than the E90. That means more power under the curve not just at peak rpm like the E90 does. Which means even at the same amount of horsepower, the F80 is faster.
