Can't wait just like most of you, my only problem is I have to wait probably unitl end of the year to get one I work at the dealership and the few sets coming in are strictly for New Car Sales I guess the year wait will be worth having it a employee cost

I was dead on the money in July of 2006. Not sure if I included dest in my est or not though. Even though it says E90, I meant E92, furthermore there was not much if any talk of a sedan at that point.

That's because of the luxury car tax here in Australia.

Just type luxury car tax ato into Google.

That is quite absurd. How high did you think the MSRP would be?

There used to be a luxury car tax in the US,; it was $627.48 in 2001 on my E46 M3. a lot less than you're paying!

Is it only me that things the pricing sucks for the M3?? Predictions for base pricing on the Coupe were $53,750. Anyway, with options on the coupe, gas guzzler and tax, you are still $65k+ out the door.

I talked to my dealer and they said although not official,, there will be NO lease support from BMW and the money factor will be .351 as opposed to .251 for the 335xi... which means, about $150/month more just in interest.

For those leasing, on a 36 month lease, with $8,000 out of pocket you will be around $1,089 per month on a fairly well equipped M3 (technology, cold weather, DTC, 19"). M or NOT, NO WAY I AM PAYING well over $1k per month for a 3 series!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jeez, my 745i was less!

Whose predictions were those? Consensus on this forum seemed to be in the $56-58k range. Many mags were predicting $60-65k. I just looked up my 2001 E46 M3 (5/01 build) --it based at $45,400, so with the new coupe at $56,500, that's a 25% increase in 7 years or 3.5% per year. Considering how the dollar is sucking wind against the euro, I'd say that's not bad at all.

As far as leasing goes, unless you've got some tax angle it's seldom the financially smart thing to do.

I believe you're living in a fmr BCW state, aka "where we kill baby seals" - so I assume you're being ironic . Australia has outgrown the US in GDP%/year for over 14 years, runs a surplus, has national healthcare (good enough for greater longevity and lower infant mortality rate than the US) and more retirement savings per capita then the US.

And this "Kommy" [sic] state had a conservative government for the last 10+ years [until Howard was unseated]. But interestingly, the elimination of div taxes and estate taxes was enacted under a Labor govt (a "socialist" govt by US standards on many issues) ... food for thought - we still haven't managed this under Bush. And the "Kommy" (code for something in your lexicon) Aussies went into Afghanistan and Iraq early.

I've had the economics debate w/ Art Laffer - he's started to come around to some points.

OK, this is all OT so feel free to flame me via PM

Okay, how about I have the exclusive right by contract to own this car when it arrives and I pay the balance to the dealership. Sound better? I didn't know there were so many lawyers on here

Nup, Canada is a parliamentary democracy - as is Oz. I totally agree, btw, read what I wrote. If the avg US household "grossed up" their payments for healthcare etc the relevant tax rate would be an eye opener to many. I have this argument constantly at work ..
