My car has a little over 14K on it now. The yellowing has been there for a while now, probably over a year ago. It was getting worse due to the heat. I feel. One headlight actually got hazy/cloudy but on the inside.

Thanks for confirming. I switched to LUXs. I hope the temperature is much lower than the HIDs as everything is outside the housing now.

Yellowing of the halos would probably be caused by extreme heat or UV exposure. I'm guessing UV issue is probably addressed in the design of the halo since they are exposed to natural sunlight on a regular basis. They probably use UV stabilized plastic or something similar. The extreme heat issue could be caused by the heat created bt the HID lamp. I've seen this happen in commercial light fixtures. You don't typically see HID lamp sources used in small fixtures with plastic lenses because the heat will yellow the lens. To address the heat, they either use larger housings or glass lenses.

It's the heat and UV vs. the 'plastic' that the rings are made out of.
I will check mine tomorrow -- but I'm pretty sure I will have the yellowing. I've had my kit since Dec 2009 |

i guess we can move up a step in our light temp for the bulbs
so when your plastic rods yellow you go from 6K to 8K? |

do you mind taking a picture of this yellowing? just want to see how bad the yellowing really gets.

LEDs would not emit the same kind of heat. Most of the heat for LED assemblies are dissipated into the heatsink not from the lamp itself. With HID, the heat is coming right off the lamp surface which could be causing the yellowing.

Pictured are AngeliBright (left), 35W HID (center) and Halogen (right), things obviously change when installed in a sealed headlamp. LEDs will always run the coolest out of the three, with HID temps running the highest.

So I checked my Angel Eyes and the Inner Rings IS yellowing
I have the Camaroos HID 6k Kit for 10 months now The HID brightness is AWESOME!! But the yellowing of the plastic Angel Eye ring is fugly and makes the headlight assembly look like it's 1978 Is it possible to take the LCI 2011 LED Angel Eye entire Headlight Assembly and retrofit it into my 2008 e90m3? |

Just to warn you, the Umnitza people are very hard to deal with. My buddy bought a set of head lights from them and it was nothing but trouble. Especially their customer service, which they got none.

No, Unfortunately. I already looked into it. The shape of the headlight assembly is different. It would require a new bumper, hood, and fender.

So it seems like everyone so far has had Camaross. Has anyone had this problem with Alpines???? Ordered mine from Alex a few weeks ago, still waiting on them though...

The 'actual' temperature is causing the yellowing in the plastic ring (not the 'Kelvin' temp = light color temp). The problem is the plastic used cannot withstand the added 100-150F temp and I think the yellowing would occur w OEM bulbs in place ..... the HID's are only accelerating an inherent eventuality. It would be nice for someone with 40k miles + on their M3 that drives with their OE Angel Eyes always turned on, could chime in. |

i agree that it wont matter who's kit you use. HIDs always run very hot no matter who you buy them from. so far i still dont have yellowing but i am new to HID angels and only have bout 4 months of experience with them. i will report back if i start to see any yellowing.

I agree that most likely its the temperature that is causing the problem, but I'm just saying that everyone so far has had Camaross. Just kind of odd that no Alpine owners have chimned in...
On another note, I have the OEM AE's and just hit 63k miles. I have the daytime running lights so the AE's are on full time and there is no yellowing whatsoever.
