Lime-rock M3 more like Rip-off M3
Sorry for those who actually like this car, but man what a waste IMO.
-$10k price tag for Lime-Rock (Wheels, ddc,cp) ok w/e Then another dealer mark up of -$15k (but wait! you get powdercoated wheels +black grills and cf caps! All worth less than 1k!) Not here to nag my butt off, but seriously... almost $100k for an e92 M3 w/ no major performance increase (power)!? Would you spend a 100k on an e92 w/ cool paint and small body-parts when you could get a CPO e90 M for half the price and make it look/perform better than a lime rock? |

The LRP does come with M Exhuast that a price tag of MSRP $3999 not including install. M performance steering wheel MSRP $800. CF Spoiler $550, CF front splitter $750 and speical paint is $5k. All those will add up to the $10k price tag increase. I am not saying that I would buy it with these option add on, but there are people out there that will. Also for that increase of $15k by the dealer is a rip off. CF mirror , kidney grill and powder coated wheels doesn't cost that much to add on. They are stupid for over charging on those parts.

Sure you get the M perf exhaust, carbon fiber parts, and the steering wheel.. but $5 for "special" paint!? If you really want to stay under warranty, which is why I assume many buy M perf parts, get a dinan exhaust ($2.5k) and buy the body parts separately from a reputable source, such as eAs, and save a significant amount. Then still have enough left over for dinan performance parts. |

i personally would never pay a single penny for any of those "limited" edition cars that don't have any performance upgrades. It would take more than a different paint, and some decals or stickers to make a car a "limited" edition. We aren't talking about a handmade italian exotic hypercar here. Just a glorified dime-a-dozen 3 series. Don't expect it to become a collector's item anytime soon.

I would much rather order an individual etx and int and make it even more special..... All of these so called limited edition cars are nothing but a rip off.....
For the car op posted .... I am sure some idiot will pay for it.

Simple solution...walk if you don't like it.
When you drive an '08 M3 that's 5 yrs old, everything newer is more expensive. Many dump loads of $ in mods that actually devalue what they already have..how smart is that if it's about the money?

Yeah and all those guys selling their special edition Mustangs, Camaros, Cougars, Corvettes, etc for a $100K+ at Barrett-Jackson are stupid too. If someone is going to be collecting these cars in the future, I'm guessing a Lime Rock edition will command a better price than a standard M3.

Yes, but many of those mods, especially for people who track their cars, are very useful. Exhaust, bbk, wheels, tires, suspension all help make the car perform better. On the other hand, all you get for those overpriced limited edition cars are some paint and a few stickers. Yeah, ok, the lime rock gets you a new exhaust, but apart from that there isn't anything special about those limited editions. Getting a small number of cars from a mass produced dime a dozen vehicle, and giving that small number a unique paintjob will NOT make a future collectible.

the $15k markup is quite stiff, but the rest of it doesn't seem too bad

I treat Market Adjustment addendums as I do other "add on" product pricing schemes like "paint sealant protection" - with no consideration at all. I think the only recent BMW to "consistently" command over MSRP where the 1M's. Even the new M5's and M6"s can be had for under sticker now.
