European Car Mag sucks
Have you guys seen the latest issue of european car (dec '08)?
They compare the e90 M3, the rs4, and the c63. They say that the M3 is an antiseptic driving experience, and that the DSC is no good because it cuts power when you want to play. That it was the most intrusive they had experienced and that it made canyon driving frustrating. Dont the idiots know that you can turn it off? They go on to say that it looks bloated and overweight, which is fine, thats a matter of opinion. The next article tries to say that the IND M3 is supposed to replicate the pure performance oriented CSL. IND added on a bunch of body parts and put 20" wheels on it. Im pretty sure that it is heavier than stock. WTF? These two articles made me loose faith in this mag. They sacrifice the info that true enthusiasts want to hear for cute journalism. I def will not renew my subscription. Sorry for the rant. If someone knows how to link the articles, please do. |

From what I read it was one of better comparisons I have read.
They didn't ignore what many say is the best attribute of the M3, handling. Quotes: "Razor sharp steering, superior overall balance." "...in the canyon the other two(C63 & RS4) couldn't match its cornering speeds." They simply didn't fall in love with the M3 V8. They had multiple testers and it was a consistant feeling. Besides lack of knowledge about the DSC. I believe it is a was a fair article. Quote:
90% of the article is about how much better it looks than a stock M3. The other 10% is about the exhaust is too loud and has a drone at 2500 rpm. They actually went into some detail being worried about the the 20's/suspension mods negatively affecting the handling and ride quality. They also mention the new Nitto 20 inch tires give up traction ealier than the stock Michelins. _ Last edited by M3WC; 10-26-2008 at 11:08 PM.. |

I agree with Jetblack50c.
I think we all forget the M3 is a road car and not a CSL. Where it maybe good in some points it falls down in others and I agree it needs cosmetic changes to make it's appearence more agressive, it lacks something. And none of these testers/journalists evey come out and lay all on the line, they find a fault here and a problem there. For every journo that likes the M3 there is one that dosen't. Top Gear Australia baged the CLK AMG Black Series, hated the gearbox, hated every thing, then he found he could turn off ESP and he said it was a bit better. Even hated the racing seats and thought it rode to rough. Then again I hate the Australian presenters of Australian Top Gear, I think they think there English. Every car has good and bad points, the M3 for its price to me is a good car, the GT-R is a good car. But I don't get worked up about it, I bought a AMG and all the BMW people said it was a show car with chrome, I bought a M3 and all the Merc people said it was a ricer, gee give us a break. Then you mod your Amg or M3 and your own forum members then start in on you. Don't like chrome lips on wheels, don't like shinny wheels, to dark a tint etc. If forum members cannot agree on what to do and not do do with a M3, also whether MT is better than DCT, what makes you think journo's are going to say the M3 is the next best thing to mother milk. Your car might be your castle, but i don't live in your house, same goes for the journo's. I thought the article fair but expected.

If it sucks why are you posting about it? Also, why are you still on a waiting list for those cars in your sig? It's been over 8 months and you still couldn't procure a car?
I checked your garage and you took the effort of not only failing to post pictures, you couldn't even post real ones of the 335 vert. |

" Industry distribution, IND for short, decided to create its own approximation of this light weight, iconic, and track ready BMW" ...that means the CSL. |
