Which Aftermarket Motor Mounts?

Hey guys! Doing my rod bearings this winter. Going to change out my motor mounts. Does anyone here have any experience with any of these aftermarket motor mounts? Are they worth it or should I just go with OEM? Would like to see people speak from experience. Thanks guys!

If this is a daily I would pick up some new OEM mounts, less NVH and more comfort. If not a daily and you spend a good amount of time at the track I would still consider OE but also some of the aftermarket options. I've been through a few different aftermarket mount sets, had some unexpected failures, and am likely going to try the AKG Motorport poly mounts next. That said, you might have better luck just sticking to OE.

^ agree. Understanding how you use your car, we could point you in a better direction. I daily drive my e90 so OEM motor mounts is what I’m swapping to

I would use the bimmerworld rubber mounts. They were out of stock for a while so I installed vibratechnics which look to be pretty durable.

Corteco for oem replacement, Motorsport ones if you want a little extra umph

I've had V-techs on my Z4MC for 3 years now and they are fantastic.
I will be doing the same thing on the M3 except I'll go with the racing version.

Very happy with the Vibra-Technics mounts on my M3.

Since the stock ones often fail at around 50k miles with heavy use, it makes sense to upgrade to something with a bit more strength and longevity, while at the same time not increasing levels of NVH.

+1 The best mount out there next to the Group N ones. But both are priced so steep compared to just regular OEM mounts.

Had mine changed a few weeks ago and went with Lemforder mounts. No complaints.

because the OE mounts don't last more than 30,000 miles to be honest...
when I did my rod bearings at 36k, both sides pealed right off, and the car vibrated like crazy in between like 2000-3000rpm.

Vibra-Technics are the way to go if you plan on ever doing them. I regret not getting them for my M3. I thought they were $285usd/each. But the price is actually for a pair. The regret is strong.

I need to stop visiting this forum.

Now I'm planning on stockpiling driveline mods over the winter... VT mounts, TMS subframe bushings, some sort of diff bushings too. And maybe tie it all down with the M Factory CF driveshaft.

Damn that would transform the road feel of this car.

Street or road application mounts? Is this the right part #BMX362MX?

From what I've read, some of the aftermarket motor mounts don't last any better than the OEM, but cost a LOT more.

I replaced mine with corteco, the maker of BMW mounts, at 60k. The originals were slightly collapsed -- about 1/8 to 3/16 inch shorter but working fine. I tried Rogue aftermarket mounts but they added NVH around idle speed. I think they would have been fine with an 850 rpm idle.

My car is a street car that I bought as a comfortable beater to drive sometimes instead of my turbo E36M3. I don't want to compromise it much. I have done a bunch of mods to it including akg 75D poly subframe bushings and 95A poly diff bushings that transformed the rear end handling but added a little bit of diff whine at 65-75 mph in 6th. As I learned from modding my turbo E36M3, you can overmod a car and make it less pleasant to drive. In fact my wife no longer wanted to ride in it, which meant I had to drive her car more (08 E61 535xi that is ok but not as much fun) and that is what lead to the E90M3 about 7 years ago. Now the E90M3 has a bunch of mods including an x-pipe and rear exhaust and she complains about riding in it.

I would consider Bimmerworld group n replica mounts but I think there are reports they add a little low rpm nvh. I replaced my 6mt trans mounts at 85k and they were actually fine and the replacements were just as soft. I have learned from other cars that stiffer trans mounts increase nvh more than stiffer motor mounts so I am even more wary of replacing those with aftermarket.

The subframe bushings were totally worthwhile for the noticeable improvement. No more rear end wiggle. It is very stable. I did the diff bushings a little softer but still stiffer than stock so I can drag race without worry. A few have ripped their subframes or broken the diff cover due to excessive diff movement.
