He lives in Mexico city and a highly modded car seems like a poor commuter choice for the crazy Mexico city bumper to bumper traffic. I'm sure its his weekend toy car... but I'll let him answer for himself...

lol!!! This is mainly correct, I also have other crazy sports cars and as a daily I am fortunate to have a driver (paid by my company) with a HUGE GMC Yukon Denali. My toys are weekend drivers or sometimes short trips and track, love them to hell. And, there is always something about these being in you driveway where you can see them every morning and sharing with friends and family.

I could not launch with the PS2 in the wet anyway, but I do know they are amazing driving at speed in the wet (did a driver training event in the wet). Getting to the interesting bit, dry traction... I mean it's ridiculous when you first get them going on a warm day (wasn't all hot a month ago). Throttle settings comparison: Launching on Sport+ is similar to Sport on PS2. On turns where I don't want to slide out I can use Sport instead of just Normal. They seem to also warm up quite quickly. Just keep in mind that I was expecting almost indiscernible performance increases based on other reviews, so don't expect it to be glued to the road, but I think it's easy to tell where the PS2 would have not had as much grip.

Individual tread life reports are certainly valuable. You can get a range, estimate where you fall on the hard driving spectrum then you can guess your tire life. My rear PS2s are just into the wear bar and I have about 18k miles on the car. That tells you I don't drive all that hard; way too many freeway miles, no track days yet and not nearly enough hard canyon carving days.

I have 14k and my tires are almost slicks! I'm just glad its past the rain season here in CA. I lucked out and got a new pair of PS2s just a few days ago from a member, otherwise I was changing over to R-11s and going to have to chill with my foot and/or create a tire-fund. I think the PS2s are way expensive even if they are 'better' overall (dry/wet/speed rating/wear) etc. Hopefully others will hit the market by the time I need another set. Although I hate the tought of adding weight to the car, especially the tires/wheels.

One thing where the PS2's take the cake is their weight.

Your tires are still new and probably have close to 6/32" tread. It will be a totally different story when you get to ~50%. They WILL hydroplane in the rain, so be careful. DSC can't prevent that. Especially when there is standing water on the road. Plus, you can't really compare the wet performance of the two tires by driving around. You need to test them at their limits, and then the differences will be revealed. During an emergency stop or steering for instance--or at the track for that matter. There has been discussion in the track forum on the actual grip the two different compounds have in the wet (that is setting aside any hydroplaning issue) and mixed opinions have been posted. It might be possible for the PSC+ to have a similar level of grip to the PS2s in the rain assuming they are warm enough, but again, hydroplaning is the main issue. I've experienced that on several occasions (on and off the track), and trust me, you don't want to be in that position. I had a friend in the passanger seat at the track, who instructs, and he could feel the car hydroplaning and losing traction as well, so it's not a subtle thing when you are 2-3/32" tread on relatively closed competition tread design.

Yeah me too, Unlike Nick HIefled, BMW won't give usa brand new car if wreck ours pushing the limits on teh car. I'm most people here drive very conservative in the rain. |

So it seems that based on this thread the RE11's are the best dry weather street and track use tires.
What if you include ANY tire in this comparison other than the 3 originally posted on this thread? Im pretty much at the end of my PS2's after this saturdays track session and am looking at replacing them . I also dont care about wet traction and want a focus towards dry street use and the once or twice per month track use.

I have about 1000 miles on a set of RE-11s now and am very happy with them. I setup an autox course last Saturday and did about 10 runs while I was tweaking the course. The RE-11s have a lot more grip than the PS2s did, which is nice when cornering, but was most noticeable under hard braking. Turn-in and quick transitions through slaloms felt very good.
The tires are quieter at the limit than the previous RE-01Rs were and break away is very progressive. Temps were in the mid 70s, so I certainly never over heated them while I was out, so I can't really comment on that.

Right now I am on the OEM 18's w/ the PS2's. Next week, I will be ordering the Gintani exhaust as well, and maybe the AA tune soon after that. I am doing the mods one at a time though, so I can see the result of each. A supercharger may be in my future as well, but not until after the warranty period is up.

Report from Nurburgring. The Michelin Ps2 performed great did 2 laps on the North loop, back 2 back laps with no break in between. The tires held up good for 41.2 K's of hard driving. They did get hot and picked up every single rock and sand on the road after the second lap. On Tuesday 16th of june Nurburgring Grand Prix track was open to the public 30 euro for a 20 minute session. The tires held up good for the first 17 minutes then started to get greasy especially the fronts they started to show some serious aabuse on the outer edges. One thing I noticed while at the Ring BMW Driver training equiped M3's are quipped with Bridgestone RE05A? Is bridgestone a better tire? I had the RE05A Pole Position on my E-36 M3 and i that tire definately worked better in the rain than the PS2. One lesson learned from the GP track session don't mess with any Porsche GT3's and Especially the GT3 RS the power to weight ratio on these cars is phenomenal. i was exiting the final corner to get on the main straight perfect exit Full throttle 3rd gear moved to the right to pass an Audi S4 and in the mirrors I see a grenn GT3 RS 3 car lengths behind I'm full throttle with M-DCT go to 4th and that darn Porsche pulled 4 cars on me by the time we reached the breaking point for the first corner. Besides having more power it also has superior brakes. I did my best to keep him in my sights but after 3/4 of a lap he was gone. If I had the funds I would definately buy a GT3 Porsche I'll probably weight to get a used one a couple years down the road. 2007 are going for over 100,000 euros minimum! I'm definately want some more info on how the new bridgestone

I wouldn't derive from PS2's if you are looking for the best street/track performance. Shy of going to an R-compound, PS2s are pretty much the lightest and softest tire you can get.
Tread life is sacrificed somewhat, but they are fantastic tires. |

Lightest yes, but not the softest. Bridgestone RE-11, Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec, Kumho XS, etc. are all softer and grippier than the PS2 in the dry at the expense of treadwear, noise, and ride comfort.
