Big Props to Frank Smith of Tech Tuning

Took my Porsche Cayman S this weekend to Frank Smith!!! He did another outstanding job as he has tuned some of my other cars in the past.

My baseline dyno with no boltons was 283 whp SAE Correct. With the tune the final number was 305 whp SAE corrected and no boltons. With the ECU still adapting to the tune the final number will be between the 307-310 whp.

Will be getting intake and exhaust soon and retune so looking at hopefully between 330ish-340ish whp on Franks retune!

All of these numbers are from a Dyno Dynamics which reads lower than Dyno Jets.

I'm getting tuned by Frank tomorrow. Can't wait to feel the difference. Everything said in this thread about his skills and ease to work with are quite true.

I read another review on this forum about nice gains that were had from a fellow member. A tune is definitely on the horizon for me, and, being local (I live in Howard County) combined with the positive reviews makes the decision on which tuner to go with pretty definitive.

Did you guys also get your integration level software updated by Frank too?

Not 100 percent sure on what you are referring to in regards to integration level. Are you referring to the latest firmware updates for BMW?

If you do go to him just tell him Patrick Galito sent you.

Yes, firmware updates, I think the latest is 24E? My dealer wants to charge for this unless there's an identifiable issue with currently installed version.

I will defnitely mention your name when I go.

I'm not 100 percent sure on that, I am going to lean toward yes.

i had mine done at the dealership and then went to frank for a tune. actually my car was the first car he saw with the new update and took him 4 hours to crack it. after he tuned my car is felt sooooooooooooooo much smoother and i could really feel the mid range.

Good, another satisfied customer! Just curious, but what made you choose Frank, other than being local, over some of the other tuners out there?

I met you a month or so ago at the carwash in Crofton - I had the white E92 with black VMR VB3s (winter setup).

yea i remember you. you have that beautiful dct AW m3. car is very clean man i like what you have done it to so far. i decided to test out frank cause a friend of mine got hes m3 tuned by him and he was very satisfied with hes work. i never met the guy before until last year at mpact when he dynoed my stock m3 which put out 341whp he told me to stop by and he would be able to get me into the 370-380whp with a tune. so i tried him out and he got me at 371whp, also took the annoying cold start out and car runs 100% smoother.

These are the results from Franks tune after full adaptation. Also need to thank Karl down at Active Autowerke for his work on the tune as well. As great as the extra horsepower feels, it is equalled by the improved smoothness and drivability. Can't recommend these guys strongly enough.

your var is making some good power. i have franks tune custom, primary cat delete, eissenman race, and made 371whp. i guess that pulley and drop in filter make a big difference. which pulley are you running

Macht Schnell pulley. Do you have a stock xpipe with the secondary cats still? The Fabspeed xpipe did do a lot to free up that exhuast flow. That was the first part of the exhaust I changed, then the AE rear section, then the TTPs.

Some of the difference could also come from whatever Karl down at Active Autowerke added to the file. Frank sent it to him for some additional tweaks on which he had been working.
