had a 2010 s5, now have an 11 m3. GET THE M3! The s5 looks cool, but it's a pig! You will be very disappointed with your decision if you get the s5!

Drive both and see which one YOU like. The S5 has less hp and awd, so to me its less exciting.

Seriously if you're concerned about the fuel economy this car may not be the right choice as you'll only get 14mpg or less on local and 20mpg or less on hwy.

Then again, nobody buys the M3 for the fuel economy

Not sure if you are a troll. Let's see, we have a high performance V8 vs a plain Jane 6 cylinder (old version) or a 4 cylinder turbo for that matter in the 328i. What do you think the difference in gas consumption will be, son? Also, I can't take a person seriously with 3 spelling errors within less then 30 odd words in the first post.

English may not be the OP's first language.

Also, it's than* instead of then, champ.

This was my plan, S5 to get AWD and safety-riding-in-the-bosom type feeling with occasional spirited drives. I had a Mini cooper JCW convertible and was feeling too vulnerable while taking the kids around.

So, I went to the dealer with every intention to love the car. Well, the s5 is super comfortable. I love how it looks from many but not all angles. It has some great tech features the BMW is without. Power was decent, handling felt a little dead, but I was ready to buy.

Then, I thought, wow, I think I could get an older M3 for the same price. Maybe I should test drive one of those! I remember wanting one but not being able to afford an 80K car in 2008. One drive and it was done.

So much more raw when you want it to be, better use of space inside the car. Looks more aggressive and less insurance salesman. RWD. Snarly pissed off V8 vs. a sewing machine sounding V6t. Firm EDC suspension.

I know myself, and the audi would have just turned into a big Honda accord for me, not the enthusiast car the M3 is. Once a car becomes just a car, it's over and I am looking for the next.

S5 is more comparable to the 335i. The M3 is much better in terms of performance and driveability.

you'll see an MPG drop of approx 7-10mpg in daily driving in comparison to a 328i, which is a significant drop.

Also S5 vs m3? really? an RS5 isn't even as "raw' in driving pleasure as the M3. If you enjoy a car that rides and handles like it has a ton of unsprung weight, get the S5. If you want a car that feels light on its feet, send tingles and twitches to your spine, get the M3.

And no, I'm not a BMW fan boy, keep in mind that I came from two Audi S4's, one with 450awhp
