European Delivery Question

I intend to purchase a 2011 E93 to be my daily driver. I've owned two previous M3's, but when I drove the current version it was obvious how impressively the car has evolved. I notice that there is now an ED program which discounts the car approximately $4k. Given the current state of the market with substantial discounts from MSRP, isn't the cost domestically likely to be better than the ED pricing? Does the BMWCCA rebate apply to ED cars? I realize that there are other, non-monetary reasons for doing ED (I did it on my 650ci in 2007), but at this point I'm indifferent on the European vacation.

You can always make a deal that will make the ED purchase cheaper than a local delivery purchase. The BMWCCA rebate also apply to ED cars. The ED experience is pricelss IMHO. Just taking delivery in Welt is more than enough. Of course the $US to $Eu exhange rate is a downer. On the plus side, there are a lot of places to drive and discover in Europe. Do it, Do it, Do it ....

I negotiated a better price on my ED deal, and seeing Europe in your own M is a sweet experience.

So, before I start calling dealers, I should expect a typical discount off of the MSRP (say, 5-10%) plus the $4K ED savings? I'm just trying to get my parameters clear before the negotiations begin.

ED invoice prices for 2010

Sedan: 46,930 Coupe: 49,495 Convertible: 56,895

I have no idea what they will be for 2011 as they haven't been released yet. Also don't know exactly where you are willing to go to buy your car but everyone on here is always talking about bmwsonline.com. Apparently Kevin from PassportBMW now runs this site and is a stand up guy specializing in ED. They are also known for typically selling cars around invoice without much hassle.

I would negotiate up from ED invoice. It is the easiest way. Not all dealers will allow you to negotiate up from ED invoice. "I will pay $1K over ED invoice. If you agree, I will stop by to sign the papers today". Most will say no...some will say yes.

Do a google search and you will find the actual ED invoice for the car you want to get.

Price my 2010 e90:
US MSRP - $69K
US invoice - $63.5K
ED MSRP - $65K
ED invoice - $59.6K

I ended up paying $1K over ED invoice until BMW offered special financing incentive that knocked an additional $1.5K off of my negotiated price. Plus I will get the BMW CCA $500 incentive. Oh yeah, with ED you will not have to pay the marketing, advertising (I believe it is called MACO) which is around $300-$400, and dealer prep or delivery fee around $200. Standard floor mats, first aid kit and safety triangle are also included with the car with ED.

As others stated, picking up at Welt is a fabulous experience itself. With the nice discounts, my wife and I had a "free" trip to Germany for a week driving a fantastic car. Well worth it....until you get home and have to wait 4-8 weeks to get your car back.....which is the only downside to the entire process.

European Delivery was awesome, and I was able to get a great price on the car. The M3 is really in its element on the Nürburgring and at over 150mph on the autobahn.

Depending on the local market you should be able to get a total of 10-15% savings for an ED order. Or, go from the invoice up (invoice on options too) and figure $500-1000 over invoice. (My $60k MSRP car came in under $51k).

I used the $500 CCA rebate for a few cosmetic mods.

I highly recommend doing Euro Delivery. Not just for the huge savings but more for the experience. You should save an additional 7% over domestic delivery if the ED price is still in effect for MY 2011.

(MY2010 E92, before 1/1/2010 price hike)

Unless you can get your dealer to sell for $3k UNDER invoice, the US domestic price is not dramatically better. Most people are still getting 2010s for $xxx - $xxxx above invoice afaik. Try leftover 2009 or leftover 2010 when 2011 come out in March.
