possible to change headlights to the facelifted model?

Just purchased a MY08 M3. The headlight cover looks yellowish and I was planning to swap a new set. I just realised that the newer M3 has a different look and was wondering if it is possible to swap to those instead? The previous owner had done a tail light retrofit to the new ones and I reckon parts may be available for the new ones. If any vendors has them for sale kindly pm me. cheers!

Just polish the headlight lenses.

The E92 M3 headlights have been the same since 2007; no changes. The E92 LCI has different headlights and they cannot be installed in the M3 without a custom bumper and wiring.

Search for detailed information.

The headlights haven't changed for the M3.

Those are the exact same headlights as on every other M3.

The yellow blinker effect can be removed by a mod, just putting a different bulb in. It's hard to find a comparison because a LOT of people put those bulbs in to get rid of that yellow blinker.

The most commonly asked question here is how to get the LCI upgrade for the regular 3 series, because the angel eyes on the new regular 3 series are much brighter and nicer. This cannot be done (cost efficiently anyway).

The only way to modify your current setup is to use different bulbs (many setups sold here), or go with OSS to change the layout of your headlights completely.

The regular 3 series LCI headlights do not fit our setup. You would need to have a custom bumper installed and have rewiring done to fit the new headlights. They aren't the same size. This would cost a LOT more than any other setup currently on the market.

EDIT: for reference, here is a picture of another 2008 stock M3 soon after it was purchased (courtesy of the picture thread here on the forum). Same egg yolk effect as every other M3... I'm telling ya, there is no difference. The egg yolk "disappears" a bit depending on the angle you're looking at the car.

Thanks Templar, I know you are trying to help but I swear I see some differences in the headlights.

If you look at this MY2011 car,

and the following MY08 cars,

and even this

I dont see the yellow bit in these MY08 cars compared to the 2011 model

Those pics are bad. The lighting in that room is bad. The turn signal bulbs looks more prominent outside in bright lights (it reflects more of the bulb), the one pic you have of the outside is taken at an angle, where the yellow will "disappear."

You can look up the part number if you don't believe us. There is no difference. Look at the pic I posted above after I edited it, it's a 2008 M3, stock. It has the yellow. It depends on the angle and the lighting, it's there in all models (unless the owner modded their stock bulbs).

EDIT: Here's another one. You can check out the thread here: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...t=74037&page=2

You can see how the angle changes whether or not you can see the yellow.

No, the op is right, they are different. I own a auto body shop and messed up my headlamp after some guy decided to reverse his vehicle a little too far and right into my front end. I ordered a used headlamp for the right front, kept the same headlamp for the front left. Only to find out that they changed in 2010 models and up..... very tiny difference where the blinker goes, but none the less if you look close enough you can tell. For 2011 they are completely clear showing the "yellow bulb". For 2008 which is the model year M3 I got this headlamp off of it isn't completely clear, it's a white looking reflector that's blurry. I can post pics If you want but just wanted to give you a heads up since now I'm stuck with the stupid light since the used parts dealer mis informed me that they were the same as well...

I can confirm they are different too. My 2012 has clear plastic over the yellow blinker bulbs.

How easy is it to change out the blinker bulbs to something that's not amber?

If you look on realoem.com there are two different part numbers for the front headlight assemblies, however, as of 5/2010 the original part number (pre-2010) has been discontinued ("ENDED") so only one headlight assembly is currently available.
