A/C leak behind the ashtray
I have noticed my A/C leaking behind the ashtray in my car.
I've noticed the A/C leak a few months ago because I always connect my iPhone to the usb and leave it in the ashtray, then the phone starts accumulating condensation on the screen. I took the center console cover yesterday and I believe I'm missing the "heater duct, rear, intermediate piece" part# 64226968447. Can anybody confirm if I'm missing a part for the A/C duct in the center console? If so, what's the name and/or part number? PS. I don't get A/C flow in the rear console vent. |

That is close to the A/C duct. The reason your phone accumulates condensation and there is no air out the rear vent have the same, simple solution. The 2 round openings just behind and on both sides are supposed to have caps installed on them. The console mounting bolts exposed in the openings are inside the rear ducts. Someone has had your console out before and skipped one simple step during reassembly. Order them up and and install them, you'll be good to go.

Be careful! I just had evaporator and wiring harness replaced just barely still under warranty. similar problem before hand as you had. That a pull the dash job and uber bucks to fix out of warranty.

You need the caps where the screw holes are to take out the center console.
I had it blowing in my shift boot and the dealer could never figure it out. Turned out to be missing the little caps That will probably fix the rear vent issue too.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but this seems to be the most appropriate place to post. I had my evaporator replaced by the dealer a few months ago and recently I've noticed this water spot seeping out of my center console twice in the past two weeks:
Based on the above posts, is #12 the cap I need to fix my water problem? Or are the posters referring to a different cap? Thanks. |

Even with that cap missing I can't imagine it causing any water to form on the console..

Thank you to everyone who posted. The dealership left the cap off after dash reassembly when replacing the evaporator. I also had my rear vent closed making it worse.
