KW Clubsport or OHLIN R&T: Help me Decide

i feel like even the clubsports are a better ride than stock on sport. its stiffer AND soaks in shit roads a lot better.....now i just blast over speed bumps if i have to because i know the car wont jump and jolt all over the place.....

Are clubsports mono tube dampers or twin tube like v3.

From a "track" point of view mono tube is considered a better option

I'm going to Spa and the 'Ring next month, what rebound and compression settings would you recommend for these tracks? I have the Clubsport 2 way suspension (manual E92 on 265 square setup on cups).

Can't wait as it's always a real blast!

Thanks for the first hand reviews. But wow!... Ohlins is world renowned for shock design and i find it hard to fathom that the their R/T coilovers are hardly better than stock.

I'm also looking for middle grade coil overs and i'm comparing TCK Single Adjustables, Ohlins R/T, KW V3 (or even V1), Bilstein PSS10, and possibly JRZ RS1 though they're a little over budget. TCK and Bilstein seem very popular in the land of E46 M3's

Do the Ohlin's have linear springs? They looks a little progressive in pics??

They use eibach ers springs which are linear if im not mistaken

I've had both as well. I'm thinking my Ohlins either need spring upgrading or I need to pull them and go back to the clubsports. They are simply too soft for track use, and the body roll is about the same as stock which causes the car to push. It's fine on the street and the handling is great there, but when you throw R-comps on it they are overwhelmed by grip. I suppose if you had sway bar upgrades, this would help with the body roll, but not resolve it. The other issue is that when you brake hard on slicks (I also have a BBK), there's too much weigh transfer forward which causes instability. So gamble ~$700 on springs, or go with what works out f the box...hmm choices.

Decided on clubsports as well. They need to be ordered and made an appt for 9/4. Let's come back and post impressions.

I have clubsports on recommended kw settings and they do not feel that stiff at all. If this is your first lowered car you may think they are stiff.

I'm stuck trying to decide on this as well. Ohlins is more comfortable but clubs are better in all other scenarios. Well except for the issue with inner wheel clearance which is another concern.

Also any of you guys daily either suspension and use it in winter?

What's the ideal setting on the clubs for the street?

Only if you're running a 10"+ wheel up front which requires a 5mm spacer. Otherwise theyre great. Or you can do the eibach spring swap up front for a couple hundred dollars.

Had both. KW Clubsport, hands down. 95% of the comfort of the Ohlins, but far, far better performance. Clubsports might be my favorite mod on my car of everything. (See sig.)

Know there has been some much validated fear of running such a small spacer (5mm or less) as I'm not a fan of spacers in general. That being said, recently saw Turner, who in my opinion makes some of the best spacers on the market is now offering a 5mm with extended hub area for wheel mount. If I had to, these would be the spacer of choice to run.

Ran larger Turner spacers on my ZCP wheels and they were fantastic. No vibrations, or loosening issues seen with other, lesser quality spacers.

Agreed! Not sure if I updated this thread, but I finally did go with the Clubsports. They have an updated spring rate, and they have been phenomenal. Everything I was looking for. Absolutely daily drivable (depending on your area of course) and puts the car where it needs to be. In combination with the right wheel/ tire setup this has been one of the best upgrades done to the car. Setup properly by Evolution Motorsports, aligned, and corner balance to come - this setup is truly beautiful.
