As even so, that is just ONE M5 that had the 12.1 sec 1/4 mile.

I do frequent the m5board.com almost every day and only one member was able to get to a 12.3 sec 1/4 mile with Euro Launch Control, as far as I know....

Everyone knows the m5 is not a built for the 1/4 mile. They have such a hard time launching the car. However from 100-200 is where it strives. Perfect example would be my buddies mb e55 that is 100% bone stock runs 11.8 @118. There is no stock e60 that can do that but if the race started at 100 it will be a totally different outcome.

Very true.....the 7 speed tranny spreads gears 3 / 4 / 5 /6 from a regular 6 speed to 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7.... M5/ M6 quite the speed demon from 4th gear on.

On the dragstrip, my best time at one track is 12.6 at 116 mph (into the wind) with a best 60 foot time of 2.068....can't crack a 2 second short time. I would be very happy to get 12.4....

Tracks make a huge difference....I want to go to ATCO!!!

Ah yea I forgot the 328i is not powerful at all. I really could care less about remarks like that made by some 335i owners. But it makes you seem very immature.

Dude, I wasn't bashing you. My girl drives a 325i, and I had a 330i before (almost the same). I wasn't bashing, just making sure the message was ntoed that your comparison does not hold... That it. Maybe you're a bit insecure?

I'm sorry if I mis-interpreted you but if you look at just some of the post made by 335i drivers its hard to differentiate. I am not insecure at all, again the remarks do not bother me but I just cant understand why so many 335i owners bash other BMW owners. Just within this post one member stated that another members 325i wouldnt even be able to beat a neon. Whats up with that? But again sorry for not getting your message right.

Please don't take my words (exchange with another poster) out of context. There was a reason for that...dr325i and I have had some interesting discussions in the past, and he was teasing me...so I in turn teased him a bit. That's all...no bashing intended. He's actually a big PROcede 335i fan now!

Here's our exchange going back to my response to the OP's question...

One suggestion though...start in M1 (not M2), DTC on (1 quick press of the DTC button), and brake launch from ~ 1,400rpm without slamming on the gas WOT...get traction and then go, go, go!

The OP just asked for some insight and a little advice, so I thought I'd offer him some since I've had some experience running with a 300C SRT-8 and a Jeep GC SRT-8...of course, my 335i is PROcede-equipped so it was a bit different.

I am, actually, as soon as I move (back) down to Hollywood (September/October), I'm gonna get me one of those 335s and put 2 PROcedes on it, one for each of the turbos

Actually no, not here in Florida. Who wants to have a spirited run while sweating? btw -- if you do move back to Hollywood, FL, shoot me a PM...maybe we could meet up sometime.

If you're in NY then tell him to meet you at Watkins Glen. I know the SRT8 can't beat my fastest lap in my nearly stock '98 M3 of 2:24.6 let alone what a 335 could so with better brakes, better handling, and more hp.

You'll leave him in the dust.

However, I have heard the hemi go down the front straight at the Glen. It sounds soooooo nice.

Really? I would think the esses and the bus stop would give a big cruiser car like the SRT8 fits.... Maybe give the front fender some lovely baby blue paint

Sorry about that. I had read some of the post so figured you both were saying stuff to each other. Did not know you were teasing though, thought you were serious.

I see you both are fine with each other. Which is great why bash each others cars. They are all BMW's.

Any corners would give the SRT8 fits, probably the toe of the boot the most. Which is why I thought the race should occur there to give the 335 a huge advantage.

I was in a DE event at the Glen, Aug 06, and one of the guys brought a Hemi Magnum. As I mentioned before it sounded awesome winding up down the front straight but it was really just a moving chicane for most of the other cars on the track.

Finally who won the race?

If not slick101, if you have the balls to take your car to its limit 150mph+ you can win. Many people loudmouthed about racing and everything and then they become frightened when their cars begin to mark 120mph, 125 mph...

First, how old is the guy? While older or with family less probability to pass over 130 mph.

Second, is he a car racer? I mean if he has some background about profesional racing. If yes do not race.

Third, Find out which car he had previous to the SRT8. If he had a minivan or a SUV the guy is talking shit about the race. He is just curious about his car limit. Probaly he will quit once he get 130 mph or before.

Fourth, delay the race and install procede. Then be sure you are going to beat him.

Fifth, no matter who is faster. If you do not want to race, do not race (the most intelligent alternative).

PM'd. I don't think I've seen you driving around yet, but then again, I've only seen a few 335i's so far; seen a few 328i Coupes as well. I guess I haven't spent enough time in Miami, as I'm sure there are plenty of nice 335i's around.

Sorry, I read your post and then your original post. I mis-read your original post and I had thought you wrote the SRT8 was faster than the E36 M3 around Watkins Glen....

As a former owner of the E36 M3, this would be very surprising but I am glad that the world is in fine order after reading your post.

I thought all procede did was adjust your circuitry to adjust turbo boost...what good is putting to chips in there? Can't you just adjust the boost to what you want using 1?
