Remember When....

I havnt seen this advert in a long time and wanted to post it. Most of you youngins to the bimmer world have never seen it.

Anyways, I think the tag is great. I have seen some scabbling about the looks of the new M but in reality, is that what we are buying the M for?

Lol, I love it!

I like the ad that has the Mercedes transport truck full of BMWs and says 'even Mercedes can bring you joy', or something to that effect.

Nice

Nice post, nice find. I remember the ad well. At that time I was lusting over an E30 M3 (the only M3 I have yet to own) with its raucous "wide body" and wing.

BTW, since we are already a bit OT (from E92 M3), where do you live/work in SD. I work in Del Mar and live in Mira Mesa!

Cheers

i don't get it? how could the M3 possibly be the best handling car at any price? Was it not the compromise that it has become these days? I just don't see how it could handle better than full blown sports cars...

Are you joking or are you serious? I didnt think it was a secret that the E36 M3 out handled pretty much everything in the late 90's. I am just curious about your statement. Do you mind elaborating?

they did increasing space between cone slalom
decreasing space between cone slalom
skidpad
emergency lane change
racetrack test
maybe some others too

the M3 won for being easy to drive as well as outperforming the other cars in handling, the M3 wasn't the fastest around the track, but it was judged the best "handling". HP helps on the straights! but that was factored out

The M3 was in the top 3 in just about every test, and won a couple categories outright

I actually threw that magazine away not too long ago, it was definetly car and driver and the article was the best handling car at any price I think it was 96, actully i'm pretty certain it was 96
