replacing a rear tire
Hi guys,
One of my rear tire is punctured and needs to be replaced. my car has about 9k miles on it. the good rear tire still has about 6mm tread depth (Conti sports contact 3) My understanding is that a brand new tire has about 7-8mm tread depth, so do i need to replace both of them or just the punctured one? I was told by a BMW mechanic that the difference between the rear tires will be absorbed by the rear differential which is not recommended. So, i wanted to hear all your opinions. To replace both or just the bad one? Thanks for any input. |

Obviously he can get just 1 tire, but I would at least make sure both are road-forced balanced.
