Driving on Snow/Ice - Shaking under acceleration

We recently received a dump of snow and now our roads are full of ice/snow.

I'm noticing some odd behavior. When trying to accelerate agressively from a stand still in the snow/ice, the entire car begins to shake fairly noticeably when it loses traction. It goes away if I keep on the throttle and DSC kicks in or if I let off the throttle.

I tried turning off DSC and it shakes during acceleration as well. It does not do this if I try to accelerate slowly minimizing wheel spin.

It also doesn't do this if the car is already moving. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks.

Not wheel hop but maybe snow is packed in the wheels making the balance off. It will make the car shake.

... Maybe the car is slipping cause of the snow? What kind of tires do you have?

Thanks.
Here's your problem! Don't try to drive aggressively in the snow and ice, seriously! Traction control will always shake if you lose traction due to this. Please drive safely!

I have a dedicated set of winter tires for my car. I don't think it's a tire problem as once the car gets going, I have no issues. I understand that slipping on snow/ice is obviously normal, but the entire car shaking quite noticeably is not normal.

By "accelerating aggresively", I mean just depressing the throttle until it loses traction. When the car loses traction, DSC should cut power to my wheels, not shake the entire car.....

Now that I think about it, perhaps it's bad wheel hop due to bad traction. Does anyone else experience this with their M3s?

Didn't happen to me last winter. Tires on, we'll see ones the snow gets here this year... nope, I don't agree it could be tire hoping on snow/ice. Car should be smooth spinning and good fun when it's slippery mate! I'd take the car to the shop.

Used to happen to me in Calgary, where there would be ice/snow solidified in the inner part of the rim which offsets the rotational inertia
