'08 AW e92 -----> '12 MR e92

Sometime in 2012 I started to grow bored of my 08 AW M3. Not from a performance perspective at all, it was mostly about color and the transmission. I thoroughly enjoyed the ESS VT2 625 kit, but i had an itch for something else. I seem to have about a 3 to 4 year time horizon with cars lately and in the back of my mind i knew there was no way I was waiting until 2015/16 for the new "M4" coupe, so this was a move that had to be made.

I sold my 08 within a week of posting it on the forum, which i wasn't expecting. A fellow forum member flew in from Dallas and drove it home! Then the race was on to find something. I'm one of the more indecisive car buyers out there so it's been a long road full of indecision, primarily about colors and at some points about transmission choice. I guess it's a testament to BMW for putting out so many nice choices. Along the way i contemplated many varieties, some stock and some individual. I even flirted with a few e90's along the way as well, but didn't find what i was looking for.

At the end of the day (one February day in 2013), I finally found a car that made me happy and made sense so I pulled the trigger. Lucky for me i had a good friend, "TLP" here on the forum, who was close to the car in California and happy to go eyeball it and drive it for me. Once I had his vote of confidence, the deal was pretty much done. Thanks again Terry!

So here she is below on delivery day... Stay tuned for more pictures as the mods start to go on. I've got a basement full of parts waiting to be installed...

I'm looking forward to the modding journey with this one. I've come to realize that modding them is half the fun, if not more.

I'm a diehard 6mt fan, but I can see it! Especially after 3-4 years of owning the same car...

Ok, maybe bored was the wrong way to explain it, but after 4 m3's and one Pcar in manual, I was ready to try something else... Could I miss rowing through the gears? Sure... But for now and the foreseeable future I'm loving the DCT!

Definitely not for everyone, but my first e36 m3 was hellrot and it was stolen after 3 months. I've always missed that car!

Not a white car and not manual WHOA... congrats Chris. Seriously though I'm tired of white Ms, its nice to see a horse of a different color. Can't wait to see what you do with this one.

I still remember you meeting me at the Mobile on the Hutch (just where it becomes the Merrit) and you helping me out with the Nav upgrade disc on my E46 M3. Enjoy! Don't know when the hell I'll be getting an M again after moving to Peru.
