Arrow $360 for Eisenmann Install?!

Hey guys, how much did you pay for installing your Eisenmann exhaust? I called up a shop in Houston and they told me a flat rate of $360?!

Thanks,
Richard

Edit: should I have the exhaust installed at a BMW specialty shop or any reasonable muffler shop?

It's actually easy to do yourself. I did mine with my car up on jack stands alone. Would've been nicer if a friend was available to hold the muffler in place when it was time to bolt it up. But it's very simple to sawzall the old one off then just a few bolts and your done. Hardest part is getting those stupid rubber mounts off. I think it took me a total of 45 minutes or so. If I had a friend around could've been done in probably 30.

I think that's kinda high but not too crazy b/c it's not just a bolt-on affair. You have to chop off the oem pipes & re-use for the Eisenmann (& possibly weld?). If it was just a bolt-on then yeah then it would be a rip off.

it's just bolt on. no welding necessary. I was worried it would need to be welded too and I don't own a welder. But after cranking down good on the bolts there is no leaks.

Illia@IND even hooked me up with some pics showing me exactly where to cut the stock mufflers off so I didn't even have to try and measure myself.

$360? It better include some sort of service from his wife or daughter if you are paying that for an exhaust installation.

i got charged $400 for my muffler install but thats because the magnaflow mufflers are not a straight bolt on. custom mounts had to be made so the shop spent a good 4 hours bending the mounts and welding and all that.

Maybe they thought it was a header back system? : )

They should quote an estimate on hours and charge the actual, not a "flat rate" - that's absurd.

No I specifically told him mufflers only -- they've also done quite a few E92 M3s before.

Yeah, I paid $75 at my local muffler shop, less than 1 hour job.
I watched whole installation, nothing major.
