How about sediment picked up from land which isn't usually under water and deposited once water level subsided from surrounding the trees? Notice how nearly all the water turned nearly black once it hit land?

I was in Narita airport when the earthquake struck, was supposed to be flying out at 3:30 pm...2:45ish pm, the earthquake struck.

what followed was a full airport evacuation, countless aftershocks, and overnighter in the airport with limited information.

finally made it out to taipei

i'll post pics up from the airport scene as soon as i get them uploaded

Edit again: "Japan weather agency says no tsunami has been detected" - Reuters. Let's hope they're right.

We just had another smaller quake at Nagano about 1:30pm. We are being told that there is a 70% chance of another 7.0+ quake in the next 2 days, and a 50% chance of a 7.0+ quake over the course of the next four days.

In other news, in my area, it's still not bad. I went イチゴ狩り which is picking and eating fresh strawberries yesterday with family and friends. But, Nagano is only about 2 hours away by car, so we are keeping our eyes and ears on the news.
