Installing LCI lights without programming

Hello,

I want to install the new LCI lights without doing the programming from Autologic because we don't have any1 who can program it here

should I go for it or there are bad impacts of doing this ?

Thanks in advance

The only issue you will have is a light flicker at start up, that is it. Everything functions as normal.

All lamp functions work properly:

Brake (Single and Dual stage)
Blinker Indicator/Hazard
Reverse Lamp
Running Lamp

There is a slight amount of LED flicker at startup due to BulbCheck sending voltage pulses through the system in order to verify bulb operation - this only happens for about a second and will not damage the lamp or LCM. You will also receive Bulb Out errors since the FRM does not detect resistance through a LED system.

Once coding is performed, this will all be corrected.

Do the blinkers still blink fast (similar to a bulb being out) without coding?

Yes, along with bulb errors since no resistance is being detected.

Coding will solve these errors.

I was at local BMW they quoted me price for lights of 2011 m3 but said there is no retrofit kit out yet along with software! Guy told me usually combine package with retrofit kit/ harness etc is cheaper than just 2 rear lights.

He thought by the end of the year we should see official package /kit that should be trouble free( 2011 lights are led and lower voltage though)

Likely not. Most dealers/parts counter reps do not know what consists with the LCI upgrade since they are not yet offered by BMW.

Bulb replacement upgrade / advice - NO MORE AMBER!

There are several threads and posts regarding bulb replacement options for a '10 E93, and I'm left a little perplexed on the right way to go. I want to stick with OEM quality products and reduce the potential for Errors. Can you guys point me in the right direction. I want to swap out the amber lights/ bulbs completely if possible. Advice on:

Black side markers with white LED's
Corner Lights bulbs
Rear Tail light bulbs

Actually, Tom, I've heard otherwise directly from the manager of BMW Performance for BMWNA. He didn't give a timeline, but did say that a retrofit kit is in development (the harness already exists). When pressed, he said that it was more or less the same thing that you and other vendors do: lights + harness + coding of FRM3, so I can't imagine that it's going to be cheaper than just the lights.

My comment was in reference to the typical parts counter rep, which will not likely know. BMW has had the pieces ready for some time overseas, programming has not been approved for US BMW dealers yet.

The BMW retrofit (when available) will require a FRM3 module is installed in order to accept programming, adding to the cost.

So what you are saying is we can get those to work without Frm3 module?
