Plenty of room for improvement, just goes to show it isn't an exact science.

Faster 1/8 mile yet slower 1/4, just how it goes sometimes.

There is something wrong here, and it isn't the headwind. I suspect an airflow problem, because the car is laying down badly in the last 660 feet.

If a headwind was the problem, you'd be going slower in the 1/8th as well as the quarter mile.

As it is, you're going quicker and faster in the eighth, but where the car was picking up 28 mph in the last half, now it's picking up 22 mph. That's a massive difference, not accountable by way of a five to eight mph headwind.

Is the filter something more than a filter? Is there a different air path?

There is something absolutely wrong. I'd go back to the stock filter and try again.

I was thinking the same thing???? Next week I 'll do the "Pepsi Challenge" with them>> 3x runs with the AFE and then swap them out back to stock and see>> The reason I was saying the wind, is becuase as my speed increases so then does the resistance against the wind... I dont know, am I out there in left field on this one???

No, it isn't anything wrong with the filter.

My car was faster in the 1/8 by ET and trap than him yet ran a lower trap at similar ET in the 1/4. Heat and headwind played a part.

Yep. I guess he pissed a few too many people off with his banter. Entertaining as it was, I would suggest that, in the future he exercises some politeness when expressing his opinions. But, I think it was mainly on the grounds of him suggesting that he and PencilGeek meet up for a good ol fashioned showdown !

That would be best but one problem. From the time you switch the Filters you will still need to drive around for 50-100 miles so the DME can totally adjust itself for the new airflow it feels. So switching them out may actually turn out worse. Maybe you should look into some RPI scoops and force airflow at speed through your filter

You think?? I dont know I am not really sold on the ECU relearning thing, maybe some one can break it down..

I did notice my Miles per Gallon went up.. @ 60mph I was getting the best of 20.4 for a distance of 40 miles, I drove the same route and averaged 22.1 for the same distance...

But who really drive these car that way??
