How can I tell if I have a tune on my E93 M3?

Hey guys. I wanted to post this here to finally get an answer.

I purchased a used 2008 E93 M3 6MT a year ago and have noticed a few things:

1)Car can rev to 8600rpms with no limiter that I have noticed
2)Car has shown 175 on the speedo without a govenor
3)Car still has cold start so that wasnt disabled which would be a dead giveaway for a tune.

Thanks for the help!!!!

-Justin

Maybe you're not, but posting saying that you have been 175mph in your E93 is a suspicious comment since that is right near your top speed and is ridiculously fast on public streets. And that + rev limit 300 too high makes it pretty clear you have a tune.

Tuners are deleting the cat light off, not the cold start warm up. The car will still idle higher until the car has warmed up. Just not as high as when it is trying to light the cats off.

So there is speedo error at 175 so i know im not realistically going that fast. When i do hit speed its on a highway very late night early morning when i drive home from dfw airport and i did this twice only to test my hunch and the fact that the car has legs and doesnt want to stop!

This isnt my 1st rodeo, nor is it my 1st post.

Car was from Houston, so wondering if there are tuners out there locally.

I also have a 335d and its never been over 120mph.

Im going to a hpde at MSR Cresson in a few weeks so Ill post pics to get rid of the troll comment.

Thanks,

Justin

Thanks. Im just wondering what the previous owner put on considering its an 08 and it has stock exhaust and only had 7k miles. I guess people have money to burn.....but would assume he went Dinan just b/c its available as some $tealers.

1st and only service was at Momentum BMW Houston before I picked it up.

Not going to beat you up but be careful out there. Recovery from an unexpected bump etc. at that speed is dicey. To say nothing of sharing a cot with big bubba if your fun gets cut short by law enforcement. Anyhow congrats on the new ride.

Thanks!

Bubba got the Aston Martin that was in the lead. The 911s and myself got off with a warning. We were doing some drive mapped out by bikers as being one of the best in the US.....this was in North Texas.

The 3 Amigos should all be at MSR Cresson SUNDAY MAY 13.

I sure hope the track bug doesn't bite as I really dont want to start researching track suspensions and wheel combos for my piggy E93.

I don't even understand where that whole first paragraph came from.

You know that exhausts can easily be switched out right?

Best way to identify a tune is:
1. Insert Key (even with comfort access)
2. Press Start button (hold for 45 sec)
3. Release Start button and depress brake immediately
4. Hold brakes for 10 Sec then pump brakes vigorously for 45 sec and hold
5. Scroll though onboard info settings until you get to MPG
6. If MPG is flashing from bright to dim then you have a tune
7. Release brake

Ha now that's some trolling! Wasn't trying to offend you OP, just unusual/unsafe to go 175+ on public roads, but maybe in TX.
