Dyno'ed my M3 with and without RPI Air Scoops... results:
Don't have the graphs yet, should have them on Monday but yesterday I dyno'ed my M3 with my new RPI Air Scoops, high powered fans were used and 90mph wind was directed straight into the scoops and front grills. We did a total of 5 pulls just to get consistency and I had 374hp at the wheels BEFORE the scoops and 376hp at the wheels WITH the scoops. So with 90mph of wind the scoops are good for an extra 2hp at the wheels. I don't know where the hell people are getting 14 or 15whp from with the scoops but it's a cheap mod, nice little gain, and the red scoops look awesome behind matte black grills (i'll get pics soon).
FYI, I also have an Evosport pulley, Remus Race exhaust, and BMC air filter so that explains the 376hp as opposed to baseline. |

I got 7whp above 7k rpm, and like 15wtq from 2200rpm-3700rpm.

If you can't test in real world flow conditions you simply CAN NOT judge real world power improvements. That being said the difference between scoops and no scoops being in the noise here is absolutely not a surprise.
Let the great scoop debate begin again in full force.... |

If a fan that does not produce real world air flow shows gains, the principle is sound. |

Sure you can get an idea of how much hp you will gain IN THAT TEST with no real world air flow around the vehicle, which then can be positively correlated with real world hp gains or not, mostly depending on how much the mod in question relies on aerodynamic effects. Of course the intake in most modern/sporty cars relies heavily on aerodynamics as will intake related mods.

The only way I can see gains of 10WHP+ is if the intake air temperature is reduced by a reasonable amount (say 10F).
Has anybody measured IATs with and without this mod? |

The results are within the normal variances you can see from one run to another run on the dyno...
If you did five runs before and five after and that was the average run, OK there are some gains (and losses around 6500RPM) to be had, but I'm guessing that wasn't the case... |

This was after like 5 runs.

I agree. I don't think you can duplicate the real-world effects of scoops on a dyno.
