In car video from 9-20 autocross

3rd event with the new car and finally convinced myself to stop driving it like it my lotus producing much better results.

Comical early run. Overdiving a bit to find the limits.

Best clean run:

Fastest raw run, +1. Another mystery shift into 6th.

What time in the vid is the mystery shift. Did it happen on a requested up or down shift and which one?

What tires were you running on?Your courses are sure a lot more open than the ones that are run around here. The only autocross that I enjoyed were the ones that you could choose your lines, not being funneled in by a million pylons.Looks like you were having fun!

Footie: Thanks

Swamp: About 39s into the video in the left hand turn. It jumps from 2 -> 6 with no input on my part.

Haen: Golden Gate BMW chapter. Running in Marina CA

Gearhead: I am running Nitto nt-01 in 275/35-18 on all four corners

We had a change in management for the events out here about 2 years ago now. They are much better run and more fun since then. I used to complain about the course design in the past for the same reason. Too tight, no choice. So to shut me up the new event organizers gave me the job of course design.

They are good on this lot. Its an abrasive concrete surface so they work pretty well despite the fact I cannot get them up to operating temp.

The club assigns different point values to different tires so if I went to a A6 or V710 I would be another class up in difficulty.

Since I have already wrapped up the lotus series I am going to run on the Ps2s at that even with the BMW to get a comparison data point. I need to decide what to take to the end of year index shootout with the club.

It depends on what you mean by "neatness".

Clearly the driftfest run was not the quickest. I have sector times and speeds from the data logger that go with the three videos. I can post those when I get home.

I am clearly not the neatest driver on the controls of the car, but I try really hard to keep the car on the proper line in the process.

Thanks for the vids. Is the suspension the stock setup with EDC? I didn't notice any significant body roll. And that's on 275 Rs on concrete.

Yes, stock with EDC.

If you look at the pics there is a lot of lean (at least by my standards)

Ahh... there is just a bit. Still, not too bad for the level of grip.

Hopefully not off topic but I had a test drive in an AC Snitcher equipped M3 and though I found the ride quality unacceptable even in comfort mode the car did not lean at all. So there is setups out there which will yield the results for track use but to me the compromise was not one I would put up with.

If you don't mind, please share the detail on wheel spec and camera you use. I did 2 autox with my stock 18" and found it to be very predictable. Maybe once my driving skill improves, I will try square setup.

http://picasaweb.google.com/rjsams/M...13351866701554

The wheels are 18x9.5 front and rear, Fikse, custom made.

Camera is a sony HDR-CX7 mounted to the pasenger headrest with a cruise cam mount.

That course looks fun as hell. Ours are a whole lot tigher. I like how you have a road of cones, too...instead of just pointer cones.
