Cleaning Alpinestars race gloves

I have a new set of Alpinestars Tech1 ZX gloves. They do get a bit sweaty during normal use and there are no instructions on how to properly care for the gloves.

I generally let them air out for a day after using them, but I have been considering using my helmet cleaner/deodorizer on them as well. Already contacted Alpinestars to ask for care instructions but have yet to hear back.

Can anyone comment on how to properly care for gloves?

Just heard back from Alpinestars. They said there really are no care instructions because they don't want to compromise the integrity or fireproof qualities of the glove. You should certainly NOT put them in the washing machine.

The rep was unsure if the helmet liner cleaner was okay to use, but he said dry cleaning might be fine.

I would just rather these not get stinky and unusable after just one season.

That's weird, my sparco suit says machine wash with mild detergent is okay (nomex 3.2/5 obviously). I dunno why gloves would be any different.

that's what i use but i've never washed my gloves. I use that refresher spray and air out.

Same with my Alpinestars suit. Suit/gloves/balaclava/socks are all nomex, so why can't they all be washed the same? I usually throw my gloves in separately since they're red, but just stick to the mild detergent without any bleach in it, same as I do for everything else. Also, avoid any "soap-based powders", use detergent-based powders to avoid flammable deposits being left behind (http://tentenths.com/forum/showthread.php?t=116634).

IIRC, you should NOT use fabric softener on nomex. Otherwise, my nomex in the army was machine washable.

I've got non-detergent cleaner for my other tech fabrics (a jacket). It claims to be safe on tons of synthetic fabrics like Gore-Tex.

Oh Jeez! Reading this made me realize that when I overhear someone say "That guy stinks" at HPDEs, they are talking about my gloves!

It's really not that complicated. I use soapy water to hand wash mine and air dry afterwards. Enjoy.
