Driver's side internal pull handle

Hey guys,

When I bought my 08 E92 the inside drivers door pull handle (and surround) was heavily scratched and i now want to do something about it. Initially I was just going to buy a replacement part but apparently its part of the whole door card and not sold separately :

Just wondered what the next best solution might be so any advice or tips would be welcome...

Thanks

Have it wrapped with similar color & do it on both sides or choose CF finish similar to your CF leather dash. Just the inside where the scracth is. Then yor're done.

I though about that.... did you wrap around the section around the mirror/window buttons as well?

I'd just wrap the scratched part. Don't over do it or it would look tacky. Can you take a picture, we can give you better advice that way.

Would you have to open up the door to remove that part?

The buttons are removable but the handle itself is plastic welded. Doable but a pain to weld it back on.

Jesus... that is a massive pain... especially for high wear and tear parts of the car. Might need to take it to a professional at this rate! :-)

Yes, seems a pain to do. I think just have it wrapped with a similar color and they dont even need to take off the handle.

Reviving an old thread, seems to be the only one on point for this.

Did OP, or others, have any luck with fixes to this? As more of these E9x cars have aged, I suspect it's a problem for other than just him and me.

My issue is identical - the black inset area of drivers door pull has a lot of missing areas of the finish. Looks like it would be flaking, but it's never noticeably pulling off. Started off as a single scratch, has grown to encompass nearly the entire area. Don't think it's being abused by rings/phones etc. but it is a mess now, and bugs me every time I get in/out.

I priced a replacement at dealer and like OP found that the only option was the entire panel and it was ~$1,400. Uh, no.

Ideas, solutions others have seen work??

When I got my car the interior was pristine except for this flaking on the interior door pull and its always bothered me. I finally had enough and found this CF overlay on aliexpress. I'm generally not a fan of overlays on anything but this seems like the only reasonable solution. No complaints so far. Here is a link to the one I got. There are also some versions on there that do not include the 'interior' scoop of the window buttons if you prefer that.
