If its a CA key, take the battery out and pack it in a zip lock bag with a cup of uncooked rice for a week or so.
Hope for the best.

Just thought I would ask. Searched and found everything, but that. So,thought it might help to ASK. It is CA key, it locked and unlocked the car afterwards. So I'll let dry a bit and see what happens.

Do the rice thing overnight, it will help. Dry rice is a hugely effective dessicant. Good luck. Would be three figures I Think for a new key.

My CA key went through the wash, found it in my pocket as I was taking my pants out. Put it in a bag with uncooked rice over night and it worked fine in the morning.

I keep the desiccant bags that come in various stuff for just such a situation. I have not put my key through the wash (yet) buy one of my daughters put her iPod in the washer. I found it after the washer but before the dryer. I put it in a zip lock with a bunch of the desiccant bags and it worked fine about a week later. I am not sure how the glass did not get shattered in the spin cycle of the front load washer. Hope it works out

Do not worry about the flamers...you did the research and could not find the answer (better safe than sorry). Ask the question!
