Arrow Any DJ's in here?

Im looking to start DJing and need equipment. I need something that can control Traktor or any other mixing program.

So far the best one i think for me would be 2 CDJ400s and a DJM400 mixer. It's gonna run me about $1700 which is a little too much.

Is there anything similar to these that I should look at. I checked out the xponent by M-Audio and the VCI-300 by vestax but these don't have enough controls for effects and stuff and feel really cheap in my hands. It doesnt have to play CDs by the way as long as it controls the laptop.

Thank you

You guys obviously donno wtf you're talking about cuz even the hardcore vinyl users are turning to CDJs and laptops. Vinyl is very limited and you can't do much with it.

I still have my Numark 1600 and Numark 1880 mixers with my Technics 1200MK2s and about 6 or 7 crates of records.

Hey I was kidding... dunno about O-cha though...

Yeah, a lot of the larger club DJ's (at least in LA) don't use vinyl, but the better ones (that I know) usually prefer it...

Cd's are lame.. The only good thing about using a labtop, you have a unlimited amount of music to use with less equipment to lug around. But nothing can compare to the sound of vinyl...

laptop?

so you buy everything as you would. turntables and mixer. you just need to buy the serato box which comes with the vinyls for you to use i believe and a laptop. now you can have unlimited amounts of music at your fingertips. you can use mixing software to mash/remix your own music. a lot of clubs even have internet for you to download music if there's a specific song you need.

mix with your mouse? you just use the serato software to select the songs you want to spin. the display on the program looks like 2 turntables.

your laptop is just your source for music, just like the 10 crates of vinyl you carried in. you can loop songs and do other fancy stuff on the software as well but actual mixing is on the turntable or cdj.

Yeah, I think some of the other guys on here have no idea what you are talking about...

Anyway, I have only heard good things about M-Audio and I think I have a set of M speakers around here somewhere...

i work for the sister company of m-audio, pinnacle systems. never tried any of their products though.

techno/club don't use vinyl....they'll laugh

but hip hop DJs use vinyl

I used both....some CD mixers now'a'days are way better than vinyl cuz you can do alot more
but if you're a scratch nut....go vinyl
