I heard the things that scrub the car get debris from other vehicles causing your car to be scratched. Also, a buddy of mine who works at a bodyshop does not recommend me using an automated carwash. He said it's very bad for the paint.

I used to think that as well until I saw what my car looked like after a professional detail. It looked 5x better than when I drove the car off of the showroom floor new.
