check this out 135i vs 318i
I found this interesting it’s a really old top gear episode about the 318i when it came out in 1991. It clearly shows where the 3 series came from being a primary focused 2 door coupes to 4 door sedans, and that’s the phase in which the 1er is in suggesting a more focused 135i performance car not far from reality since the 1er is the new old 3 series. The show also addresses understeer present in the 318i and how it avoided oversteer which is currently present in the 135i, and noted that usually BMWs tend to oversteer to handle cornering.
