Which M3 to buy?

Ok. Massive dilemma. Need opinions here...

I've been looking for a while now, and have narrowed in on 3 M3s. I'd like to get one before the summer, but I'm also willing to wait if the deal isn't there...

I'm in Canada, so if I buy a car in the US I need to import it, and I'm not worried about the process if I can save some money, because it's easy.... Here are the 3 cars...

#1

2008 E90, fully loaded, no COMP pack, yet 19" 220m wheels. DCT, 67,000km (42,000mi), CANADIAN car, asking 40,000$CDN (32,000$US). Interlagos blue on all black interior. No warranty, sold by BMW dealer, third party warranty available. Needs to be shipped cross country 2000$CDN (1600$US). BMW Financing available, 4.99%.

#2

2011 E90, fully loaded, no EDC, no COMP PACK, 19" 220M wheels. DCT, 41,000km (26,000mi), Canadian car, asking 59,000$CDN (47,000$US). Grey on all black interior. CPO until 2017, sold by BMW dealer. Needs to be shipped cross country 2000$CDN (1600$US). BMW financing available, 1.9%/2.9%.

#3

2011 E90, fully loaded with COMP PACK and wheels. DCT, 70,000km (44,000mi), US car, asking 43,000$CDN (34,000$US). Interlagos blue on all black. Contacted BMW USA and they can add a 36month, 36,000mi BMW extended warranty on the car for 51000$CDN (4100$US). Car sold by third party dealer. Exchange rate, cost of warranty and import fees of 6.1% make the car cost 50,000$CDN (40,000$US). No financing, have to pay full amount up front.

I'm partial on Interlagos blue, and COMP WHEELS, but not a deal breaker. I can always add the Comp wheels later. I'm also partial to BMW warranty, since it's piece of mind for these rod bearings until I can get a proper pattern on oil sample tests. Will not buy a car without full service history nor CARFAX.

#4...

I also have access to a 2013 E92, DCT. It's not really what I'm looking for, since it's a coupe and black, but it's fully loaded as well, no COMP pack, NO EDC. the only good part of this lease takeover is that ithe residual value of the car is 31,000$CDN (25,000$US) when the car is 4 years old in 2017. So I stand to make a bit of a profit in 2017 if I buy it out and sell it privately me thinks. ***EDIT*** This lease takeover is for 1240$CDN (1000$US) for 28 months plus the residual value at the end which would make the car cost 68,000$CDN (54,300$US). The car has 30,500km (19,000mi), has a BMW upgraded exhaust, 3M protector all over the front, winter 18" M wheels+tires.

Would it be safe to assume that this 2013 car, well maintained and taken care of would be worth 50,000$CDN (40,000$US) when the lease is up in 2017? It'll be 4 yrs old...

I hope that's enough info to receive some worthwhile opinions.... Thanks in advance. Hopefully some Canadian guys will pipe in as well... Really love this forum, I've learned so much already...

JF

Why not get the coupe and make some money at the end?

When I bought mine last year, there were a few things the car I was buying MUST have. The most important thing was the new iDrive system because the predecessor iDrive system is just CRAP. Thus, the vehicle had to be 2009+. Other than that, I personally think, they are all the same in terms of options or whatnot. Of course, finding a car with low kms is another challenge altogether. I would say the coupe is your best option, assuming that it has got the least kms, that can possibly make you profit when the lease is up. Plus, E92 looks far sportier than E90. No offence to E90 owners out there. It is just a personal opinion.

option #3 seems very cheap. Are you sure there is no accident on it? Do you have a link to the ad?

#2...you can drop it as low as you want later and buy whatever wheels you like...only 26k mi. So I doubt you'll be worried about bearings for quite a while and waranty sounds like it makes the most sense for you since you don't seem to want a coupe

The carfax shows all services at BMW and it also shows 2 accidents. One right front and the other unspecified. I'm not buying this car without a BMW dealership PPI. I'm assuming if there are issues with how the car was fixed, they would be able to pick it up...

Yeah make sure you get it it inspected. Honestly, I wouldn't buy a car that had been in front accident. I wouldn't mind rear but not front.

I also would opt out the coupe. It still has 28 months remaining which is a lot and payment is high.

Also let me add that it might be better to buy a Canadian car because if you decided to sell it later, it will be easier to sell in Canada rather than US car.

One question I would ask BMW Canada is if they would honour a U.S. car warranty.

That's my first move Monday morning... They do sell the extended warranty here as well, but who knows what happens when you cross that magical line between countries!!

lol @ asking strangers on an Internet forum to make a big financial decision for you.

How about buying the one you like best within your budget?
